OLIVER (GORDON) REID October 16, 1930 - November 21, 2018 With profound sadness, and after a lengthy illness, we announce the passing of Gordon. He is survived by his loving wife Esther, son Grant (Shari), daughter Karen Borkowsky (Randy), grandchildren, Scott (Melissa), Tyler, Sara (Tony), Mackenzie (Pierre), Elliot (Denae), Shaylene (Ryan) and Ryan (Adriel), great-granddaughters, Arianna, Gabriella and Jillian, sisters-in-law, Nora Reid and Viola Karton, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Gordon was born and raised on a small farm near Basswood, MB with his parents, Bill and Annie, and brothers, Mac and Birnie. In 1955, he married his sweetheart, Esther Sjovold. They spent 63 wonderful years of marriage together. Transcona became home to them in 1959, where Gord started his career in automotive sales and Esther continued teaching. Summer vacations and camping weekends were abundant while raising their family. In their retirement years, they continued to travel and spend many wonderful winters in Arizona. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave. West. Memorial gifts in Dad's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Condolences may be left at seasonsfunerals.ca
