JOYCE EMMALINE MERRILL (nee BRADLEY) 1930 - 2018 In loving remembrance of a kind and generous woman, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. Joyce Emmaline Merrill passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg on November 29. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Richard (Dick) Merrill; her four daughters: Janell Hartley (Ronald), Kanata, ON, Lori Merrill (Ian Gordon), Terrace, BC, Barbara Merrill (Marc Lafortune), Gatineau, PQ, Darlene Merrill, London, ON; her seven grandchildren, Jake, Melani, Graeme, Owen, Nicola, Alexandre and Katrine, four great-grandchildren, her sister Dolly Fletcher, nieces and friends. Born in Winnipeg where she grew up and met her husband, she was married on her birthday on September 6, 1951. Dick's career moved the family from Winnipeg to Thunder Bay to Toronto and then settled in London, Ontario. Joyce created beauty in her homes and welcomed any opportunity to share that warm hospitality with family and friends. She played bridge with friends, loved gardening, baking, golfing and explored painting. She led a varied business life; from a car saleswoman to serving in fine clothing shops in London. She was wonderful with people! In 2007 she returned to Winnipeg with Richard to care for family. In her final years she accompanied her husband on many occasions to visit her daughters and their families, as family was always so important to her. The dedicated home care she received offered her comfort in her own home and was much appreciated. She was a wonderful lady and she will be sorrowfully missed. A private family service will be held at a later date. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit www.chapellawn.ca Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 204-885-9715

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Joyce has been a long time friend and will be greatly missed. She always had a beautiful smile and spread joy to those around her. I will cherish all the memories we have made over the years. Although I have lived in a long-term care facility for many years, she made sure to visit when living in London and remained in contact through letters when she moved to Winnipeg. A special lady who is now at peace and with the Lord. - Posted by: Mary Dawdy (Friend) on: Dec 20, 2018

  • Joyce gave me an angel for my tree about 5 or 6 years ago and every year I think of her when I put it on my tree. I put up my tree a couple of weeks ago and was thinking of her. She will always be an angel to me. - Posted by: Sherri Clarke (Friend) on: Dec 13, 2018

  • There are so many words that come to mind when I think of Aunty Joyce. Caring, comforting, loving! Special, enthusiastic, fun...Just a pleasure to be with. My thoughts are with the Merrill clan right now - Posted by: Laurel Bradley (Neice) on: Dec 10, 2018

  • My story with Joyce begins in London Ontario, where I met her daughter Lori at college. Although my home was far away, I always felt welcome at the Merrills. It meant the world to me...and at the centre of all the girls was their beautiful mother. I will never forget her warmth and humanity. May she rest in peace. - Posted by: Heidi Blomkvist (Daughter Lori's friend) on: Dec 09, 2018
