HILDY BERGMAN (née NEUFELD) October 9, 1937 - December 7, 2018 Mother, Nanny, sister and friend. Hildy passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on December 7, 2018 in her home. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Elin (Marc), Lesa, Jim (Lisa); and her grandchildren, Ali (Phillip), Kirsten, Reid (Mandy), Andrew, Sofia, Anders and Erik. Also by her brother Harold (Verdeen) and sister Edith, and her nephews and nieces. She was utterly devoted to her family and to Christ. She was so proud of her grandchildren and she nurtured and loved her family deeply. Hildy was born in Winnipeg and was the youngest of five children. She obtained her RN in 1959 and went on to finish her BN at McGill in 1962. She worked as a nurse and a nursing instructor from 1963 to 1982. In 1975, she married Elmer Bergman and had an instant family with three children. She always said that it was her most satisfying job and her family meant everything to her. Hildy was a woman of strong faith, wisdom, a prayer warrior, a mentor to her family and to anyone who needed help. She loved to spend time with her family and friends; having dinner parties, baking, spending time at the lake and playing games (she was known as the Skibo queen). Her support and love will be truly missed by her family. Memorial Service is to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. Aidan's Anglican Church, 274 Campbell Street. Memorial donations may be sent to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, MB, info@siloam.ca.

  • Dr. Bergman and family, my sympathies go out to you on the passing of your mother. Although I didn't know her, she sounds like a wonderful person and someone that anybody would be proud to call a mother. - Posted by: Jocelyn Hamill (Acquaintance) on: Jan 09, 2019

  • We were saddened to hear of Hildy's passing. A sister of the Alumni and colleague remembers Hildy working passionately with a group of young nursing instructors, she was a strong positive member of the team and always had a smile. She greeted her colleagues and Alumni sisters/brothers with warmth and interest. On behalf of the WGH/HSC Nursing Alumni, we extend our sincerest condolences to Hildy's family and friends. She will be remembered. - Posted by: Marian Ulyatt (WGH/HSC Nursing Alumni Friendship Convenor) on: Jan 02, 2019

  • I am so saddened to hear of Hildy’s unexpected passing .. Athough we just became friends over the past couple of years, I found her to be an intelligent, understanding and caring lady. She also was very feisty, and knew right from wrong, and was willing to fight for it … She always spoke so proudly and lovingly of her children and grandchildren. My sincerest condolences to all her family. I will truly miss her. Sleep well Hildy. Joyce Wasylik (A neighbour and swimming buddy) - Posted by: Joyce Wasylik (Friend) on: Dec 22, 2018
