GORDON EDWARD PEITSCH August 17, 1948 - December 13, 2018 We are deeply saddened to share that our beloved husband, father, grandfather and son-in-law, Gord, passed into the arms of Jesus after a courageous journey with cancer. He was surrounded by family in the comfort of his home, and in his final hours was covered in love, prayer and song. Gord was truly one of a kind and will be remembered for his quick wit, his gentle spirit, his giving heart and his steadfast faith. He was fiercely devoted to his family, always putting their needs before his own. Growing up on a dairy farm in Beausejour, Gord learned the value of hard work from an early age. His work ethic served him well while he earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering and throughout his career as a realtor. For over 40 years, he dedicated his professional life to helping people find a place to call home. Left to cherish Gord's memory are his beloved wife of 46 years, Cheryl; his children, Chris (Lorne), Edward (Dominique), Pamela (Graham) and Barrett (Larissa); his grandchildren, Kendra, Brooklynne, Mya, Keaton, Eli, Christopher, Dillon and Quinn; and his dear mother-in-law Vicky Obrodovich. Also left to remember him are his brothers and sisters, Margaret, Mervin, Ruth (Walter), Leona (Wes), Deanne (David) and David. Gord was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Susan Peitsch, his sister Eleanor, and his father-in-law Michael Obrodovich.
Gord, Dad, Grandpa, we know you are free from pain, but we want you to know how much we will miss you here and how grateful we are for the impact you have had on our lives. You chose to embrace this quote from Cesare Pavese: "We don't remember days; we remember moments." Thank you for fighting so hard and thank you for giving us so many moments to remember.
Heartfelt thanks to the exceptional staff at CancerCare and the incredibly compassionate Palliative Care team.A Celebration of Life will be held at Eastview Community Church, 315 Maxwell King Drive, on Saturday, December 22 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba are appreciated. I met Gord when I was a broker at Canarim and we remained friends. I remember him and his wife attending a dinner at a Japanese Restaurant downtown with my friends from Japan and lots of guests. It would be nice to share some photos I have with his family. Dgmann@shaw.ca - Posted by: Douglas Mann (Friend and client) on: Nov 24, 2021

I am sorry to hear of Gord's passing. I have been living in Kelowna, BC from the early mm and do not get all of the Winnipeg news but I had been thinking of Gord on numerous occasions because I have a picture of me and him and two other fellows on my chest of drawers which was always a favourite picture I had. - Posted by: Douglas Mann (Friend from the 1980's) on: Jan 04, 2020

Gordon will be deeply missed by us, we extend our love and condolences to Cheryl and family. We will always remember our chats on the phone. Our visits to your home in Wpg were always a priority and highlight of our visit. We will miss the fun and laughter ,but will remember with fondness all those good times. Gordon is the only one Norm could talk to in Plat Deitsch and jokingly recall their farm heritage. Memories are forever, we will meet again on the other side, in Gloryland. Hugs to all the family, Norm(cousin) and Gloria - Posted by: Norm and Gloria Peitsch (cousin) on: Jan 23, 2019

I remember you riding Blazer (horse). The horse was uncontrollable and took off with you. You did not fall, you did not sway. You sat tall in the saddle, not even when the horse came to a dead stop. You climbed down as if it was nothing and said nothing. I will always think fondly of you. You were well loved. - Posted by: Bobbi (step-niece) on: Jan 16, 2019

When I joined the REMAX Henderson office in May of 2003, Gord was one of the first to reach out and welcome me. Later when I became Broker, I always enjoyed it when Gord stopped by my office and shared a story or simply had a chat with me. He had a wonderful sense of humour and was a true gentleman. I will miss him.... - Posted by: Cliff King (Friend and co-worker) on: Dec 19, 2018
