VIOLET MCLEOD (nee BROWN) Peacefully surrounded by her family, Violet passed away at Kin Place Personal Care Home in Oakbank on December 14, 2018 at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Glen (Potsie) and daughter Gwendolyn, siblings, Marvin, Henry, Francis, Ralph, Bernice, Audrey, Marjorie, Norma and Mildred. Survived by Pearl and Alfred (Sonny). Violet will be sadly missed by her son Keith (Terry); granddaughter Darcie (Scott) and great-grandchildren, Mack, Griffin and Carter. Violet was born and raised in Dugald. After school she started working as a telephone operator in Dugald. She was working during the Dugald Train Disaster in 1947 for which she received a commendation from MTS. Violet married Glen McLeod in 1951 and had two children, Gwendolyn and Keith. In 1956 they packed up their family and moved to New Zealand for three years and Australia for three years returning to Dugald in 1962. Violet returned to work at MTS until she took early retirement in 1983. In retirement Violet spent her time knitting sweaters, mitts and scarfs for family and friends. She cherished every moment she got to spend with her great-grandchildren, Mack, Griffin and Carter. Violet was diagnosed with dementia seven years ago and spent the last two years in Kin Place in Oakbank. We would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Kin Place for their kindness and compassion. A memorial luncheon will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Dugald Community Club at 544 Holland St. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Springfield Food Bank.
