I grew up in Marquette in the late 60’s to the late 70’s. I know both Johnny and his brother Archie very well. They both had a huge impact on my life and in me becoming a trucker. Johnny always had a story and time to tell it to you. My condolences to Marie, Les, Lee and the McRae families. RIP Dear Johnny #9 will race on!! - Posted by: Alan schick (Friend) on: Dec 18, 2018

I grew up in Marquette just across the road from the McRae families, including the McRae brothers trucking. What I remember most is Johnny and Marie were always community involved, neighbourly and kind hearted, down to earth people. I believe he inspired my brothers to experience life on the road as truckers. See you further down the road Johnny .... sincere condolences to Marie and family. - Posted by: Phyllis Wareham (nee Schick) (Former Marquette neighbour) on: Dec 18, 2018

More like a friend than an Uncle, always happy to see him! We teased and joked with each other but as a racer, I respected no other! You fought hard to win the battle but now you can rest easy! You did a great job with your children and for that I’m proud of you! So sorry for losing you but I’m glad your out of pain and moving into a new body! Take a deep breath and say hi to everyone up in heaven! RIP - Posted by: Barry Bremner (Nephew) on: Dec 18, 2018
