GEORGIA TOOTH (nee DAY) It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Georgia Tooth, on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the age of 90. Mom is survived by her sons, David Tooth and Les Tooth; daughter Lorraine Endler (Marvin), grandchildren, Corinne Cvitkovic (Mark), Christine Wade, Brent Tooth, Michael Tooth, Robert Tooth, Madison Tooth and Elizabeth Tooth. Mom was predeceased by her husband Ernie Tooth, by her daughter Kim Wade, daughters-in-law, Evelyn Tooth and Laurie Tooth and son-in-law Rob Wade. Mom was born in St. John's, Newfoundland in 1928. She followed her sisters to Winnipeg where she met the love of her life, Ernie and they were married in 1951. They built their first home on Collegiate Street until the family out grew it and they moved onto River Oaks Drive. Mom and Dad were inseparable, doing everything together. Family always came first for Mom. It was a given that everyone would be home for Sunday dinners. We always kidded Mom; whether it was about her cooking, her coordinated dining table settings, the netting on the side of the house for her beloved clematis or her need for us to sing carols each Christmas night. Once the kids were all grown up, Mom got her dream job working part time in the baby department at Eaton's. As years went by, Mom lovingly became Dad's caregiver, never leaving his side until he moved into Tuxedo Villa. The day soon came when Mom also needed assistance and the two love birds moved in together. After Dad's passing, Mom's giving continued to her friends and acquaintances at Tuxedo Villa. Mom will be remembered for the love of her family especially Ernie and her love of life! The family would like to thank the staff at Tuxedo Villa for their care and compassion in the care and kindness they gave to our mom. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice in Mom's memory. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • My Aunt Georgia was a big part of my life. Georgia’s sister, Ruby was my mother and the two were always close. Both of “the Day girls” had four children close in age to each other, and we spent a lot of our growing up years together. Our families became even closer when my father passed away at the age of 46, when Aunt Georgia and Uncle Ernie’s generosity prevailed in our lives. My family teased Georgia mercilessly about her designer home, and she could never get away from her nickname - Martha Stewart. We all had a few laughs at Aunt Georgia’s expense, and she was not only gracious, she was sharp-witted, funny and speedy with her comebacks. I would come to Winnipeg every year to see my aunt and uncle, and I loved sending flowers every Christmas. We would talk on the phone, or Georgia would leave me a wonderful message with a joke, and so would Ernie. After Ernie passed away Georgia would call me and I still have messages of thanks and humour on my answering machine. This year, I sent flowers early and I received no phone call or answer when I called. I’m only hoping she was able to see them, beautiful flowers being one of her favourite things. I will miss Georgia very much, she was a bright spot in my life, always pursuing the fun in people and life, while living hers with dignity, kindness and according to her values. I love you Aunt Georgia, you were an angel here on earth. My deepest condolences to David, Les, Lorraine and families. May your many memories bring you comfort and a desire to live for the same joy and integrity as your mother. Warmly, Your cousin Colleen ❤️ - Posted by: Colleen O’Neill (Niece) on: Dec 30, 2018

  • Georgia and Ernie were my neighbors on the back lane of River Oaks and Parkview Street. We used to chat over the back fence. Georgia was a lovely lady and crafty as well. She had quite an art at home decorating and meal planning and baking. Georgia belonged to our Crafty Lady Group at the St. James Presbyterian Church and every Tuesday morning Georgia would attend our group and then have lunch with the ladies or go home to be with Ernie. We will miss Georgia with her lovely smile and her astute comments. R.I.P. Georgia My sympathy to the family. Tamara Wetherall - Posted by: Tamara Wetherall (Friend ) on: Dec 28, 2018

  • Before retirement Ibegan running the Knitting Club at the Villa. Gorgia was a member of the group up until she was no longer able to attend on Tuesday mornings. She was an excellent knitter and always had such a sparkle about her. She loved the ladies and the sharing and the giving of the groups work to children in need. She will be missed, especially by me. Gorgia was easy to love. Sue Dilay - Posted by: Susan Dilay (Retired nurse at Tuxedo Villa) on: Dec 28, 2018

  • I will miss Aunt Georgia as I miss Uncle Ernie. Always enjoyed our visits and spoiling her with a fresh blueberry muffin when I was in visiting my mother Ethel at Tuxedo Village. My condolences to the family and I will be thinking of you all tomorrow for the service. Dan & Judy, Saskatoon - Posted by: Dan Tooth (Nephew) on: Dec 27, 2018

  • I met Georgia while volunteering at bingo at Tuxedo Villa. We always had so much fun teasing each other. She was always such a lovely lady but she sure had a way of putting me in my place. I am going to miss spending our time together. My deepest condolences to her whole family. RIP Georgia. - Posted by: Claudia MacDonald (Friend / bingo buddy) on: Dec 26, 2018
