ROBERT MICHAEL (MIKE) FITZPATRICK It is with the deepest of sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Fitzpatrick on Wednesday morning, December 26, 2018. Mike will be sorely missed by his wife Cheryl, with whom he shared 35 years. He will also be dearly missed by his daughters, Meghan and Jacquie; grandson Kael; mother Kathy Fitzpatrick; brothers, Jack (Beverly) and Blake (Shelley); nieces; nephews; and their families and many friends. He was born July 23, 1954 in Winnipeg and grew up in Fort Garry, where he participated in a variety of sports from baseball to hockey and football. He went on to study at the University of Manitoba. He spent his working life alongside his father and two brothers as part of Maple Leaf Construction. Throughout his life, he took pleasure in spending time with both his family and animals great and small. He will be remembered for his fierce sense of determination, decency and strength of spirit. Beginning in 2013, Mike sadly had to fight cancer but showed exceptional bravery even in the darkest of moments. The family wishes to thank all of those at CancerCare Manitoba and his extended medical team for helping him during a long and difficult journey. A celebration of Mike's life will be held on January 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3 or a charity of choice. I'll miss my uncle Mike. Growing up I remember his laugh, his generosity, and his friendliness. I wish I had been able to visit him in the more recent past. He fought a battle I know all too well. God bless you Mike, see you on the other side. - Posted by: Rob Fitzpatrick (His nephew) on: Feb 05, 2019

Remember the times when the Fitzpatricks, Rocks and our family (Bachmans) used to go to Gimsa Hut (long since called Crescent Drive Park) on Victoria Day in the early to mid 1960s, and have a picnic and light fire works? So long ago, but I still have very pleasant memories of those shared times. - Posted by: Bob Bachman (School friend) on: Jan 02, 2019
