BARRY HALLICK 1938 - 2018 It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved dad and Ampy passed away peacefully at home on December 21, 2018. Our dad and Ampy was our hero and family was everything to him. Barry is survived by his daughters, Kim, Crissy (Tim) and Jodi; son-in-law Jim; grandchildren Simon, Jennine (Dane) and Sam; as well as many loving family and friends. Later, Barry welcomed Susie (Scott) and her boys into his life with open arms and an open heart. Dad worked as a surveyor for the Province of Manitoba which included surveying the floodway, one of his most proud accomplishments. Following his retirement, he was called upon many times by the Province to serve. After the flood of 1997, dad was asked to visit flood impacted homes in Manitoba. Not only did he assist in assessment and flood proofing, he provided care and support to the victims of the flood. Ever the family man, dad took on a second job which started as a night course at H&R Block that he then built into his own income tax business for over 40 years. His clients were loyal and they became an extended family to him. As if he weren't busy enough with his two jobs and raising four daughters, dad coached us in softball and participated in every aspect of our lives. This continued throughout his life and he never missed watching his precious grandson, Simon, curl every weekend. One of his proudest moments was when Simon became third on his junior curling team, the same position as his Grandpa. Nothing made him happier than when Simon achieved his black belt in Taekwondo. Barry would tear up watching Sam's speed skating races and was so proud of his commitment and determination. He beamed with pride when Jennine was accepted into the Genetics counselling program at the University of Minnesota. Barry's most cherished times were with his family. He loved spending our summer vacations at the lake, playing cards, crib and games. He always looked forward to watching the Winnipeg Jets, Bombers and listening to the Goldeyes games. Barry was an elite baseball player and curler. He won numerous curling club championships, car and cash bonspiels. He was in ten Men's Tankard playdowns and a member of the Provincial and Canadian Farmer's Curling Champs. In 1989 Barry won the Strathcona Senior Men's Provincial Curling Championship and went onto represent Manitoba at the Canadian Senior Men's Curling Championship in Kenora. A special thank you to all the staff at the Seven Oaks Dialysis Unit. We will be forever grateful for the care and compassion that you gave to our dad and Grandpa. For all the pride you had in your family, the pride we have for you as a father and grandfather cannot be measured. Dad is reunited with his beautiful daughter, Tracey, and the love of his life, Pat. They were married for 50 wonderful years Our hearts are aching and we will love and miss you forever. You and mom always held each other's hands and now you can hold your Patsy's hand forever. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I worked with Pat at Ceridian and she told me so many funny stories about her and Barry. That was such a true love and have no doubt they have already been reunited. My Dad used to work for Barry as a surveyor and had nothing but good things to say about Barry. They would always enjoy a few laughs! My condolences to the family! • Oh Barry, the world has lost such a beacon of goodness. My heart goes out to your family at this loss, for your bonds with them were an inspiration to anyone who knew you. You and Pat were the epitome of grace, just like your mom Elsie. I am so glad to be your cousin. Thanks for all your kind gestures to my brother and sister. Just knowing you are gone brings such a sadness. I wish the world had more people like you. Wishing strength for your family at this time of mourning. - Posted by: Bonnie Taylor (Cousin) on: Dec 29, 2018

  • Barry and I also worked together for many years. I was his helper in 1997 setting elevation for flood victims and also on several other surveying projects over the years. I also curled with Barry winning my first Tankard spot with him. Barry was a great guy and liked by everyone. He will truly be missed and my condolences to his family. Rest in peace buddy. - Posted by: Martin Johannesson (Friend and Co-Worker) on: Dec 29, 2018
