Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE YVONNE AMANDA THORIMBERT (née TEILLET) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie, our Mémère, on Thursday, December 27, 2018. She was a strong, caring woman who inspired all of us with her generosity and her faith. She was loved and admired by all who knew her. Marie was born on April 2, 1923 in St. Vital, Manitoba, to Pierre Camille and Sara (Riel) Teillet, in the middle of a family of 11 children. She met Gus (Auguste) when she was 16 years old and married the great love of her life in the summer of 1943. Marie and Gus raised six children, Marc (Pat), Grace, Denise (Ken), Susanne (John), Paul (Noreen) and Louise (Tim). Marie and Gus held a very firm belief in the Lord and profound devotion to the Blessed Virgin. Together they made quite a team, sharing a strong bond of love and a powerful friendship. During their 70 years of marriage, they were blessed with 23 grandchildren, and 43 great-grandchildren. Marie excelled at hospitality. She hosted foster children and even when the house was bursting at the seams, she invited her father and later her in-laws to come and live with us. She taught us a lesson that she had learned from her mother and that was to always make room for one more at the table. She encouraged all of us to keep in touch with family, to build strong relationships and set aside time for tea and conversation. What we will remember most about our Mémère was how she made everyone feel welcome. Right up to her last days, she had a kind word for each of the grandchildren and lots of hugs. We wish to thank the staff at Southeast Personal Care Home for their professional, caring and gentle manner. They greeted Mémère and all of us like family and made us feel quite at home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to any organization that provides food and shelter to the needy and homeless. Mémère's favourites were Siloam Mission, Morberg House, Winnipeg Harvest and Mary's Meals. There will be a Prayer Vigil on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home. Please join us in celebrating Marie's life at Holy Cross Parish, 252 Dubuc St., Winnipeg on Monday, January 7, 2019. The Eulogy will be given at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. John McKenzie presiding. Marie's grandchildren will serve as the pallbearers. Interment to follow at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery, Highway #1 East at Navin Road. Afterward, there will be a light luncheon served and time for fellowship in the Heritage Room Reception Centre at Green Acres. I would like to send sympathy and prayers to the Thorimbert family. I have fond memories of Louise's mom and how she welcomed us into her home when I was a school kid! - Posted by: Ann (McMullan) Lacroix (school) on: Jan 05, 2019
