ALICE BEDARD (nee PLANTE) On Saturday, January 5, 2019, Alice Bedard (nee Plante) our mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt left this earth to join her husband Paul whom she missed every day. She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, two brothers and one granddaughter. Mom was a lady ahead of her time. She graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1943 with her Bachelor of Arts and in 1944 with her teacher's degree. Mom enjoyed teaching till her retirement. Mom loved working in the dirt. She was a wonderful gardener and had the most beautiful flowers. She enjoyed reaping her fruits and vegetables and made the best jams and jellies. We had the greatest mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She was generous to a fault and gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. Mom will be missed and forever loved by her son Guy (Carlene), daughter Paulette (Kelly), son Marc (Denise); her grand-children; great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date (June or July). Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Tante Alice was my Confirmation godmother. She was also one of my favorite aunts. I remember staying with her and Oncle Paul during summer vacation, 'trying' to help in the garden, separating cream from the dairy cows, cooking, mucking out stalls in the barn, learning to chew wheat grains with Oncle Paul, running in the fields, climbing willow trees in the back yard, chasing 'Caneton' - the protective collie and enjoying country living with her and my cousins. She will be sadly missed by me and my sisters (Alice & Jeannine) because if ever there was a 'true' person, it was Tante Alice. My sincere condolences to Guy, Paulette and Marc. Much love to you all. - Posted by: Claire (niece) on: Feb 11, 2019

  • I grew up living a few doors down from Mme. Bedard and remember seeing her outside whenever we biked or walked by. We often stopped at her driveway and chatted with her and we would pet her dog Brandy. She was always a kind and sweet lady to us kids and I will always remember her fondly. - Posted by: J (Neighbor ) on: Jan 22, 2019

  • Mme Bedard was my Kindergarten teacher. I was 4 years old, it was 1983 and I remember my first day so very clearly because of her. I have very fond memories, even though she wouldn't let me play until I figured out how to tie those shoelaces. Such a sweet lady. I still have my report cards with her handwritten notes! My sincere condolences to her friends and family. - Posted by: Danièle Chiniah-Judson (Former student) on: Jan 14, 2019

  • I was in Mme Bédard's last kindergarten class in 1982-1983, just before she retired. While the memories of her and her classroom are distant, I always thought of her fondly. Bon repos, Mme Bédard. Sincere condolences to her family. - Posted by: René (Former student) on: Jan 14, 2019

  • Auntie Alice was truly one of the most amazing women that you could ever meet. I am so blessed that she was not only my Auntie but also my God-Mother. One of the most important lessons that she taught me was 'never to judge' because you haven't walked in that other person's shoes. I will love you for forever and always strive to be more like you. - Posted by: Suzanne (Niece) on: Jan 12, 2019
