Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOREEN GRACE BROWN It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Doreen Grace Brown of Winnipeg on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the age of 80 years. Doreen was predeceased by her husband Jim (1995); parents, Herbert (1971) and Ethel (1971); sister Ruth (2015) and brother Bob (1971). Doreen will be sadly missed by those that loved her. Her daughters, Helen and Linda (Mike); granddaughters, Dory and Sydney; great-grandson Bentley, partner Dave; brother Bill (Joanne); numerous nephews and nieces and furry friends, Akira, Sandy, Akita and Pratikas. Doreen attended Isaac Brock School and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. After high school, Doreen followed in her sister's footsteps and went into training at Misericordia School of Nursing. She took time off from nursing to have her girls. The family spent many enjoyable weekends and holidays at the cottage in Winnipeg Beach. After Doreen and Jim raised their children, Doreen took the last refresher course offered by Red River Community College to renew her nursing degree. She spent several years working at the Misericordia Hospital, mostly in the nursery, until the hospital changed into a senior's facility and she spent the last of her career there. Once she retired, she spent time with her granddaughters and took trips to visit family and friends, cruise Alaska and enjoy life. She enjoyed attending the softball, bowling and ringette games of both of her granddaughters throughout the years. A special thank you to the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative ward for their care of Doreen over the past few months. In keeping with Doreen's wishes, a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Doreen's memory may be made to the charity of their choice. My condolences, go out to my Uncle Dave, Doreen & Him where inseparable, The way my Uncle treated her was like a queen, I am so happy that they found each other. When I would come out to Visit My Uncle Dave & Doreen would be so hospitable & take me all over.
