OTTO E. HERKERT It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Otto Herkert, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather on Saturday, January 12, 2019. He will be missed by all. Otto was 102 years of age and passed away with family by his side, after a short stay at Grace Hospital. Those left to mourn his passing are his four children, Gary (Donna) Herkert, Martha Hildebrandt, Pam (Warren) Marshall, Tim (Sherry) Herkert, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by Justina, his wife of nearly 70 years; brothers, Paul, Fritz and William; son-in-law Henry Hildebrandt; and grandson-in-law Vern Ferguson. Otto was born in Chatsworth, Illinois, USA on August 9, 1916 and came to Canada in 1922. He grew up in the Sanford area, and married Justina in 1941. Together, they raised a family of four, and enjoyed a long life farming in Oak Bluff. A celebration of his life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 17 with viewing prior. Interment to follow.
