GAIL ELAINE MCINTOSH October 16, 1962 - January 14, 2019 It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gail McIntosh on Monday, January 14, 2019. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Steinn and Stefan, brother Grant, sister Heather, and many friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her parents, Cec and Peggy. Gail was a beautiful woman, inside and out. Her wisdom, strength of character, generosity of spirit and patient, calm nature touched everything she did and everyone she met. She had a large circle of close friends who often remarked that she was the hub that kept everyone connected. Gail symbolized her approach to life with the lotus which she described as a beautiful new flower that miraculously rises each morning, out of its muddy roots, in the muddy waters. Like the lotus, Gail was the purest of souls, always seeing good in people and turning tough situations into opportunities to blossom. After completing her studies in Quebec, Gail had a long and successful teaching career with the Winnipeg School Division. She was a very gifted, creative and innovative teacher who impacted many lives in her role as an educator. Gail also loved to travel, read, paint, listen to tunes, but what she loved most was spending time with family and friends. She particularly cherished the special times spent in Riverton, Gimli and at the family cottage at Beaver Creek. Family was very important to Gail and she was immensely proud of the amazing young men Steinn and Stefan have become. Her strength, spirit, and wisdom will live on through them. Heartfelt thanks for the care and compassion Gail received during her illness. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no formal service, but a celebration in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gail's name to Ovarian Cancer Canada. Goda nott, elskan. We will miss you. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Gail was a sweetheart growing up. Always filled with good will, easy going, yet determined to make a difference. I haven’t seen or spoke to Gail in many, many years but reading of her life and her commitment to her causes makes me feel warm inside that her time on earth was a benefit for all of us. Sorry to not have been in your life in later years, so happy to have known you at the beginning when your greatness began to grow. - Posted by: Mike Cory (Friend in early years) on: Feb 15, 2019

  • I grew up with Gail on Mercury Bay. We had a large group of friends that spent many happy times in Parker bush making tree forts and exploring from morning to dinner time. I will never forget the time we accidentally got tangled up with a swarm of hornets. Gail was getting the worst of it until Grant ran in and carried her to safety. So many memories of our childhood together. My deepest condolences to her family. - Posted by: Tracy Stahl (Friend) on: Jan 28, 2019

  • I am so very sad to hear of Gail's passing. I knew Gail through basketball. Gail was part of Riverview basketball buddies before I arrived almost 10 years ago, and as I was new to the sport she was the one I looked to for guidance. She had the moves! She could set a pick like nobody's business. She was a true team player, she knew when to pass the ball, always encouraged the new players and had these super fast moves that we had no chance of blocking. Gail was an incredible and vibrant woman, and I am so fortunate to have known her. My sincere condolences to all those who loved her. - Posted by: Kristina Hunter (Basketball buddy) on: Jan 21, 2019

  • I met Gail while working at George V School. We later reconnected after her diagnosis. She was a remarkable woman; her strong will, her determination, and her positive attitude kept her going through her difficult journey. My sincere condolences to Steinn, Stefan, Heather and Grant. May you find comfort in each other. Hold on to all of the fond memories and keep her alive in your hearts. • I met Gail over 25 years ago, and even though we only worked together for a few years, we stayed in touch and remained good friends. She was fun, adventurous, loving, and kind. She was an amazing teacher, mother and friend. I will miss our long chats on the phone, her smile and her infectious laugh. My condolences to Steinn, Stefan and family. - Posted by: Celine Ducharme (Friend ) on: Jan 17, 2019

  • Gail was never not having a good time. With her permanent smile she truly did light up a room. My condolences to all her family. Your new life awaits. - Posted by: Dick Neufeld (High School friend) on: Jan 17, 2019

  • I met Gail two years ago while helping renovate her kitchen. I got to see her again a couple months ago when we installed new windows. There was an awning above her bedroom windows that she hated because it block so much sun so we removed it. As a result, birds start to fly into the windows so Gail bought some reflective butterfly and hummingbirds stickers to deter the birds. My last memory of Gail is her giving me thumbs up and a the biggest smile as to the placement of the stickers. Was that ever an amazing smile! She was so kind, relaxed and gave such good energy. I am so glad I got to meet her. - Posted by: Rob Drummond (Friend) on: Jan 16, 2019
