DR. T. ARCHIE YEO Our family is deeply saddened to announce the death of Thomas Archie Yeo on January 14, 2019 in Winnipeg, Manitoba at Tuxedo Villa. Dad passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Arch was born in Winnipeg and spent happy formative years in Roblin and later, Dauphin, Manitoba. After studying Science at the University of Manitoba, he was accepted into the Manitoba Medical College where he enjoyed his courses and graduated in 1962 before pursuing another four years seeking his wish to become a Radiologist at the Health Sciences Centre, the Manitoba and Winnipeg Clinics as well as at the Medical Arts Building. Following the completion of his studies, he joined the Radiology Consultants of Manitoba where he continued to provide services (his specialty being Angiography) until his retirement in March, 1994. Arch was extremely talented and he took great pleasure in his many hobbies, especially woodworking and stained glass. A dear friend once stated there wasn't a room in their home that was void of at least one of Arch's "works of art"! He was, indeed, a gifted craftsman. Arch was an avid fisherman and spent many pleasurable times fishing with good friends, most frequently in the Lake of the Woods where our lovely cottage is located. Dad also mastered the art of creating "flies" which he took on many fly fishing excursions in Northern Canada and Alaska. Nothing was more rewarding for Arch than to watch his family enjoying the various activities at Echo Bay. The cottage is a treasured family place that Dad and Mom created for our family. We are grateful for the wonderful childhood we were given which was full of love from our parents. Arch enjoyed travelling and visited many parts of the world with Mom, close friends and family. A dear friend once returned from a travelling trip with Arch and retold many "Archie-isms" that kept her laughing for at least a month! Arch loved to share his funny thoughts even though sometimes they were just a touch too much! Arch is survived by his loving wife of more than 57 years, Iva J., his four children and their partners, Linda Yeo and John Poulter, Liann and Kerry Pelser, Tom Yeo and Cathy Kavanagh Yeo, and Tanis and Rob Shaffer, as well his nine beloved grandchildren, Megan and Isaac Poulter, Heather, Laura and Eric Pelser, Liam and Sean Yeo, and Jack and Mark Shaffer. Papa was adored by his grandchildren who brought him much joy having them around him. Arch will be missed by many beloved cousins, dear friends, sisters-in-law, Millie Hay-McInnes and Ann Hay, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Irene Yeo; his mother and father-in-law Mary Irene Hay and Dr. Arthur W.S. Hay; brothers-in-law, Dr. Bill Hay and Dr. Rob Hay. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, January 20 10:00 a.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Tuxedo Villa for the dignity, respect and kindness that they have shown Dad and our family.
