ROSALIE (JOAN) BROWN Born April 9, 1938, and after a fight that would have taken George Foreman to his knees, Joan passed on January 14, 2019 at the age of 80. Without doubt, she will be met in a better place into the open arms of her parents, William John Lowe and Lydia Elsasser Lowe of Rosebank, Manitoba. She was their only daughter and the light of their lives. She was an athlete, a scholar, a steadfast loyal daughter who reciprocated their love. We hope she is well equipped with milk bones and dog toys to greet the herd of dogs she had cared for over the years. An ever present and important part of her life. Joan attended school in Rosebank, Manitoba and graduated from Miami, Manitoba High School. Upon graduating, Joan entered the Misericordia School of Nursing, graduating in 1959 as a registered nurse. She entered her chosen profession as a teacher and received her Diploma in Nursing Education from the University of Manitoba in 1961. She continued teaching before moving to Oklahoma City with her husband. She returned with her family to Winnipeg in 1980. Joan leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Ross, her daughter Vicki (Brett), son Derek (Jodi) and her grandchildren, Meagan, William and Leah, whom she loved dearly. It would be remiss not to mention her canine children (fur babies), Scout and Boo who now have a fighting chance to lose some weight that the table scraps will (hopefully) stop. Joan, Mom, Grandma or good friend, we will see you at some point, but we are not in a rush to do so. We will miss you more than any words can express, but we will be strong and be there for each other. Not one for pomp and circumstance, it would be Joan's wish to have her family and friends raise a toast, listen to music and bask in the sunshine. A "Celebration of Life" during the spring/summer will be planned with the time and place determined by her family. Her love of her dogs was epic. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to the Winnipeg Humane Society, "Your mother is always with you. She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street. She's the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick, the fragrance of life itself. She's the cool hand on your brow when you're not feeling well. She's your breath in the air on a cold winter's day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colours of the rainbow, she is Christmas morning. Your mother lives inside your laughter. She's the place you came from, your first home and she's the map you follow with ever step you take. She's your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy, but nothing on earth can separate you, not time or space, not even death." - Anonymous Peace be unto you. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I was shocked to hear of her illness. And still shocked. I am truly sad to hear of her passing. She was one elegant woman. Also so approachable and kind. Well kept. And I remember loving her flowers. Planting. We often talked about her large garden in her family farm. This is a large loss. So young I send love to prayers to all the Brown family. - Posted by: Joanne Archibald (Neighbor.) on: Jan 20, 2019
