ROBERT ALLAN DODD
Born: Oct 02, 1946
Date of Passing: Jan 21, 2019
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT ALLAN DODD Peacefully on Monday, January 21, 2019 our dear husband, father and grandfather passed away suddenly at his home. Robert was born October 2, 1946 in Stonewall, MB and spent nearly his entire life living in the area. He will be lovingly remembered and missed dearly by his wife Jean, his daughter Gisele (Dan), his son Jason (Nancy), and his grandchildren, Elle, Jacob, Ava and Abigail. Robert also leaves behind his siblings, Edwin (Linda), Wayne (Gwen), Martin (Lil) and Sharon (Nick), brothers/sisters-in-law, Arlette (Edward), Francine and Rheal (Odile), along with so many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbours. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Margaret, father/mother-in-law Marcel and Beatrice, and brother-in-law Norman. Robert was the middle of five children that grew up on the farm west of Balmoral. Robert attended school in Balmoral then onto Stonewall Collegiate before heading to work in Winnipeg at Nutty Club and Canada Post. He married the love of his life Rejeanne (Jean) Dubois in August of 1968 - recently celebrating 50 years together. He was then blessed with two children, his daughter Gisele in 1973 and his son Jason in 1977. Robert and Jean left the city in 1972 and bought a small farm in Balmoral where they worked side by side for 30 years raising their family along the way. Robert loved the farm, golfing, curling, playing cards and watching the Jets, Jays and Bombers. Robert loved being with friends, listening to music and dancing either at the hall or around the kitchen table. Every Saturday night he would have the Saturday Night Polka Party playing while watching Hockey Night in Canada getting ready for the local do. All of these activities recently came second to spending time with his grandchildren who loved to pester Papa, stealing his treats and ice cream. We would like to thank the many family, friends and neighbours who have supported our family during our time of need. A celebration of Robert's life will be held at Christ the King Church, 315 2 St. E., Stonewall on Saturday, January 26 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon following at the Balmoral Memorial Hall, Balmoral. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Ken Loehmer Funeral Services 204-886-0404

So very sorry to hear of Robert’s passing. I grew up in the Balmoral area and went to the same two schools with Robert. It was always nice meeting up whenever I was in that area in later years. Our deepest sympathy and condolences to all of Robert’s family. We are visiting our daughter in England at this time or we would’ve been at his service today. My heart goes out to Jean and your entire family. When I heard of Robert's passing it brought back many wonderful memories of the time I spent on weekends and in the summer at Uncle John's farm with Robert and the entire family. I can vividly remember one summer when Robert was dating Jean and I can tell you he was head over heels in love with this woman who became his wife and together you raised a beautiful family. Robert will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing this amazing man. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Many men are strong, and very few have been able to mix the right amount of strength with a proportionate amount of gentleness. In doing so, you get a man you can admire, respect and look up too, and also a man you can talk to, who will understand and listen. Robert was this kind of man, and he will be truly missed in our family. - Posted by: Lorraine Dodd, Glen and Karen Dodd (Cousins) on: Jan 25, 2019

Our sincere condolences to the Dodd family on the passing of Robert. He was a good friend, a fine neighbour for the 30 years that we lived in Balmoral and a generous and kind family man. His laugh and sense of fun were always present. He was especially proud of his family and loved nothing better than bringing us up to date on what Giselle and Jason were doing. He will be truly missed. We will hold you in our prayers even though we are far away in Yuma. Chuck and Val McClure - Posted by: Chuck and Val McClure (Friend) on: Jan 25, 2019

Jeanie and all the Dodd family, It saddens me so to hear the passing of Robert. I have know him and his family since the day I was born, and have many fond memories of him and his family. It always brightens my day to run into him and his siblings, and there will now be a piece missing in the circle. I take comfort thinking that George met him at the pearly gates with a beer and they are sitting around reminiscing about the good old days. Hang onto your fond memories, and let them help you through this sad time. Hugs to everyone. Elsie Pounder - Posted by: Elsie Pounder (Lifetime family friend) on: Jan 25, 2019

I am saddened by the news of Robert's passing. Robert always had a kind word for everyone he met and a warm smile. I fondly remember the days and evenings spent at his Father and Mother's farm in the summers, playing and frolicking around those huge bonfires. Robert was a very kind, warm, gentle soul and will be missed by everyone who knew him. - Posted by: Shirley Dodd (Cousin) on: Jan 25, 2019
