Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHILIP CARL HRUSHOWY September 12, 1948 - January 9, 2019 Philip had lived bravely with Multiple Sclerosis for many years. The last few months, this disease had caused him more walking and balancing problems. However, his untimely death was caused by the influenza virus. Philip was born in Dauphin, MB and grew up in Sifton, MB. At nine, his family moved to Brandon, MB. He was a good student, loved hockey and made many good friends. At 18, he went to work as an apprentice with MTS and remained with them until age 30. He next joined Nortel and remained with the company until 2001, when he took long term disability due to his MS. When he went on leave, Phil had been a manager in the Field Service Engineering department. In 2004, Phil and his wife retired to Gimli, MB. Philip was predeceased by his parents, John and Victoria, and his sisters, Renee and Edee. He is survived by his wife Electa (nee Scott), daughter, Lisa Quinn, and son-in-law, Todd Jordan. He shared a special bond with his grandsons, Luke and Liam Jordan. He is also survived by his only brother David Hrushowy and brother-in-law Frank Szturm. Philip was a good uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He especially enjoyed childhood summer visits made by his nieces, Maggie and Ivana Hrushowy. Phil, thank you for being such a kind and good husband for the past 33 years. A special thank you to my sister-in-law Fran Hrushowy, my brothers, Joe and Don Scott, and sister-in-law Claudia Scott, and their families for their support during this difficult time. Our most sincere condolences to Philip's family. I have known of Philip since he was a baby growing up in Sifton. I am his sister Edee's age and went through school with her. His dad, John, was my teacher in high school. Today brings a flood of memories from my past. It is many years since I was taught by Mr. Hrushowy. I had RENEE as my flower girl when I did my 1st communion at the age of 8. Always followed news of family and offer condolences to Phil's family even though I do not know them. Our thoughts are with all the family. - Posted by: Rose and Mike CYMBALISTY (SOPEL} (John Hrushowy teacher in Fishing River School 1945) on: Jan 26, 2019
