JAMES WESLEY BERGEN (JIM)
Date of Passing: Jan 17, 2019
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES (JIM) WESLEY BERGEN With his family by his side, Jim passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 74. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Jake and Evylin Bergen; and sister-in-law Nancy Bergen. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Terry Bergen; daughters, Kim Bergen (Garry) and Judith Chambers (Markus); grandchildren, Karli Kubesh (Tyrone), Quinton Chambers (Johanna) and Kordell Chambers; great-grandchildren, Abby, Nicholas and Lily; brothers, Rodger Bergen and Brian Bergen (Mary); and sister Vergina Aldous (Monty), as well as his very special nieces, family, extended family and friends. Our hero, Dad, Papa, Grampy, Grumpy, Uncle Jim was a man of few words but said what he meant and meant what he said. Never judgmental, always inclusive and ever the cowboy he loved his family unconditionally! He cherished the summers spent in Meadow Lake with his cousin Lyle and his family riding his favourite horses over the years -Ace, Joe, Tyrel and Chance. It was there he found a sense of peace and solace after having driven many miles on the road as a long-haul transport driver for most of his working life. Dad, we know your cousins are there with a horse and saddle waiting for you to surveil the hills and valleys on the ranch in the great beyond together. To honour Dad's wishes a private family celebration will take place later this year. We want to thank his medical team at the St. Boniface Hospital who kept him comfortable in his last days and went to great lengths to advise and guide our family through this very difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 204-925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

We always enjoyed Jim's visits to the ranch. He had a love for the horses and always had his camera. He would fuss over the kids and was a joy to have around. We will miss his visits. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Dallas and Angela Klassen (Second cousin) on: Jan 27, 2019

Condolences to all of Jim's family, especially the Winnipeg gang. I met Jim when I was eleven years old when Jim and Terry were married at the family home on Grey Street. A wonderful day! My beautiful older sister and her handsome groom tying the knot. Last summer was the last time I saw Jim when he pulled up to Kim's house in his big red truck. He told me about his family ancestry - Russian Mennonites who came to Canada. Great tales from the past. Jim, hope you're riding the big range in the sky. - Posted by: Jane Little (Sister-in-law) on: Jan 26, 2019

Hi Terry, Kim & Judith, I am sad to hear that Jim was sick and of his passing. Lois and I send our love and our thoughts and prayers for you all and share in your loss. I know we haven't stayed in touch but when we would meet up it was always like we never parted. I/we have many memories of our trucking days and our time visiting as families. Jim and I were teamed up (driving) for a winter and I cherish those memories most. Take care and cherish the memories. God Bless you All.
