DOROTHY EVELYN RUTH MAZURIK February 28, 1928 - January 16, 2019 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dorothy Mazurik on January 16, 2019 at the age of 90. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph in 1980, her parents, Walter and Beatrice (Mimi) Lewis, stepbrother Jack Lewis, two infant sisters, beloved father-in-law Simeon Mazyrack, daughter-in-law Donna Mazurik, and special friend Gord Peppin. Dorothy is survived by her loving daughter Wendy (Ron) Morier, and sons, Greg and Paul (Cara) Mazurik; grandchildren, Chris (Natasha), Jennifer (Clint), Sherri (Dave), Scott (Theresa), Alexandra, Nicholas, Brendan (Arlita), Cole (Hayley) and Julia; great-grandchildren, Fynn, Calum, Alistair, Braedon, Kyler, Jordan, Madeline, Linden, Keana, Lillian, Ethan and Miya, as well as extended family and friends in Canada, the USA and England. Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg and attended Glenwood, Windsor, Norberry and Glenlawn Collegiate. She was a secretary in the St. Vital School Division #6 for 37 years, both at Varennes School and Dakota Collegiate. She was very active with the Young Adult Beginning Experience and the Separated, Divorced and Widowed of St. Bernadette Church, also assisting with the Catechumenate. She later became a member of St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church and found great comfort there. She enjoyed working with children and young adults and strongly believed there were no BAD children, only those who needed more love. She enjoyed knitting, reading, writing letters and sending cards for every occasion. She also enjoyed writing poems and Bible stories for our enjoyment. Mom was a much loved member of the High Steppers Senior Club and valued the many friendships she made there. She also had many friends at Appleton Estates where she resided for many years. The family wishes to thank the dedicated W.R.H.A. Home Care Program and the caring doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Hospital. Special thanks to our family physician Dr. T. Gwozdecki. Cremation has taken place and a special Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. (Mom and Dad's Wedding Anniversary). All are invited to attend at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Ave. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Mom may be made to the C.N.I.B., 1080 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 3M3 (Mom's favourite charity) or to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, 1026 - 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6 or a charity of your choice. It seems we're never quite prepared For a mother to pass on .... It shakes our whole foundation That we've built our lives upon. Acceptance comes as time goes by, And the pain of loss subsides .... But all the memories remain And we think of Mom with pride. Our Mom gave us self-esteem And helped us to be strong .... She built a lasting faith And taught us right from wrong. She raised us all to stand alone, To try our wings and fly .... And as He comes to set her free, It's hard to say goodbye. So, let us say, we Love You As you travel on your way .... A part of you will still live on In our hearts each day. "Love You Mom" "Love You Darling" NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
