WILLIAM (BILL) KRAWEC February 15, 1926 - January 26, 2019 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father and grandfather on Saturday, January 26, 2019, just a few weeks shy of his 93rd birthday. He will be dearly missed by daughter Patricia Goodings, granddaughter Allison Goodings, grandson-in-law Nick Young, brother-in-law Quinton Charney, nieces and nephews, Ron Dureski, Constance Dureski and Shayne Shaw, Donna Michalczuk, Russell Charney, and Holly and Chris Fjeldsted, great-nieces, Olivia, Aydin and Emily, and great-nephews, Russell, Hudson, Dexter and Harry. Bill was predeceased by his wife Ollie Krawec, parents, Harry and Mary Krawec, siblings, Olga, Anne, Jeanne (Dureski), Steve, and Olly (Charney), and brother-in-law Steve (Dureski). Bill was born in Melrose, MB. After moving to Toronto, he met and married Ollie in 1947, and their daughter, Patricia, was born in Toronto. He was a salesman for Christie's Bread for over 20 years. After 28 years in Toronto, he and Ollie came to live in Beausejour, MB where they purchased the Howland Hotel and operated it for seven and a half years. It was here where they enjoyed the friendship of many people that continued throughout their retirement. A life-long hockey fan, Bill grew up listening to the Toronto Maple Leafs' games on the radio as a young boy, and was a strong supporter of the team his entire life. He also was an accomplished golfer and spent many happy days on the greens in both Toronto and Manitoba. Bill loved animals and wildlife, especially the birds and foxes he kept well-fed on his property. He enjoyed sitting in the big kitchen window in his house, surveying the land and watching for visits from various wildlife. He also loved cats, and had many treasured pets over his life. Bill had high expectations for all of those he encountered (and also of himself), and he was funny, proud, loyal, and he loved his family fiercely. His sharp wit and laughter will be missed, as well as his comedic quips, which brought smiles to many a face. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at East-Gate Lodge and Stony Plains Terrace for their care of Bill over the last years of his life. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, February 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church, Cooks Creek, MB, with Father Taras Kowch officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Canadian Wildlife Federation, 350 Michael Cowpland Dr., Kanata, ON, K2M 2W1 or the Arthritis Society, 100A-1465 Buffalo Place, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 1L8.
