HELEN HOWARD (nee SISSONS) August 5, 1927 January 24, 2019 It is with sadness that the family of Helen Howard announces her passing. Mom will be remembered with love by her surviving family: son Terry and wife Patricia (nee Lavery); daughter Laurie Pilon (John, deceased); grandchildren, Leanne Howard, Scott (Shawna) Howard, David Pilon, and Rene Pilon; great-grandchildren, Kaidence Pilon, Adam, Austin, and Amber Howard; sister-in-law Bernice Evans, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Ann Sissons; husband Irwin, in February of 2008; all her siblings and their spouses; and her son-in-law John Pilon, in December of 2018. Mom loved her time spent with her family above all else. She was always interested in their comings and goings. She loved the outdoors and especially golfing, which she took up in her 70s. Her trips to the warm climates in the winter were her greatest times she loved to golf in the winter! Mom "adopted" the children of special friends as her honourary grandchildren: Michelle, Katie, and Sara DeSchutter, and Kevin and Sandy Mestdagh. She watched them grow into fine young adults. Mom had health issues throughout her life that she conquered, but the last few years were the toughest of all as dementia took its toll on her. She still loved visits and could carry on conversations and always asked how everyone was doing. A special thank-you is extended to you, the home care staff, Pinawa Hospital staff, Ironwood staff, and lastly the wonderful staff at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home for your wonderful care of Mom in her last months and days. Your care made her life so much easier. She always felt that she mattered. As per Mom's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A graveside service at Glencoe Cemetery will be held in the spring. We will miss you Mom and Grandma, but you deserve your rest now. Till we meet again. Donations in Mom's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, CancerCare, or a charity of your choice are gratefully accepted. Desjardins 204-233-4949 1-888-233-4949 www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca
