HEINZ JORDAN Heinz Johann August Jordan died Thursday, January 22, 2019 at Concordia Hospital following sudden complications. His family was by his side. Heinz was born in Germany on April 2, 1923. He moved with wife Helene and daughter Christa to Canada in 1956 and went to work as a machinist for Pioneer Electric (later Pauwels). He worked there until his retirement in 1987 at age 64. In 1977 he moved from the city to an acreage in the Birds Hill area where he pursued his avocation as a gardener and also as a painter. Heinz's paintings adorn his home, those of family members and friends, as well as the condo building he and Helene moved to in 2006. They travelled frequently to Europe and later to Cuba every year, and are still remembered fondly by resort staff there. Heinz was predeceased by wife Helene in 2014. He is survived by his sister Erika (Otto); daughter Christa (Gordon); grand-daughters, Melissa (Jason) and Christina (Nathan); as well as great-grandchildren, Kristiana, Emily and David. A memorial service is to be held on Wednesday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 1M3 or Doctors Without Borders, 551 Adelaide Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 0N8 - two of Heinz's favourite charities.
