RALPH LORNE PIETT Peacefully on January 31, 2019, Ralph Lorne Piett passed away in the comfort of his home at the age of 84 years. Born in Saskatoon, SK, on April 2, 1934, Ralph was predeceased by his parents, Morley and Eva Piett; brother Lyle; and sister-in-law Anne Piett. Ralph is survived by his daughter Donna (Joe) Crawford and their two children, Jarred and Julie, of Quispamsis, NB; and son Wayne (Karen) Piett and Colton of Winnipeg, MB. He took great pride in his loving grandchildren and cherished nieces and nephews: Linda and Dennis, Doug and Brenda, Gail and Marty, Lorne and Joann, Diana and Greg. Ralph moved to Winnipeg as a young man and had a long career in sales, meeting many people, and was well loved. An avid sports enthusiast from a very young age, outdoor hockey during the cold Saskatoon winters with his brother and friends was a given. His passion for sports continued throughout his life right up until his last day. Baseball, curling, marathons and, in later years, his love of shuffleboard and golf were where his heart was. Ralph and his son Wayne could be found enjoying friendly competition on various golf courses around the city and beyond. Ralph was an active volunteer including numerous boards and committees and Meals On Wheels. He especially loved his work as a golf course marshal. His annual trip to the family golf tournament in Regina was one of the many highlights of his summers. Dad, you are and will forever be lovingly missed. In keeping with Ralph's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life is to be held Friday, February 8, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the ANAVETS Assiniboia Unit #283, 3584 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of choice. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I worked with Ralph at Mondo Foods from 1991 until his retirement. Ralph was a wonderful man, so thoughtful and caring. All his customers loved him. We stayed in touch after his retirement and he would come and visit us at Piazza De Nardi. He was always so full of life. I remember one day visiting him and that day he had jogged from Grant Park to the Airport to pick up his airplane ticket as he was going to see his son Wayne. This was after his retirement. He even gave me a golf lesson or two, but I wasn't much of a golfer. Maria De Nardi and I had a great visit with him last fall, when he popped into La Grotta. Very are sorry we didn't hear of his passing sooner. Maria thought of him now because he always sent her and her husband Ugo an anniversary card at the beginning of September. He will be greatly missed by anyone he worked with at Mondo Foods. Maria, Ugo, Tom, and Liana De Nardi, Elayna Zadko, Don Gilberto, Sherry Franco and Nigel Grehan all wish you our sincere condolences. - Posted by: Elayna Zadko (Co-Worker, Friend) on: Sep 20, 2019

  • I meet Ralph through my father Robert Hekl, they were great friends and both loved the game of shuffleboard together. Ralph always gave my husband great tips on how to polish our shuffleboard and I loved competing with him on our Monday night shuffleboard league and swapping golf stories. He was a kind, and gentle giant...his presence will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to the family in this time of sorrow. - Posted by: Kim H. (Shuffleboard Friend) on: Feb 08, 2019
