Born: Jan 20, 1947
Date of Passing: Jan 31, 2019
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA ROSE-MARIE CLAUDETTE MILLAR (nee CHARTRAND) January 20, 1947 - January 31, 2019 (72 years) After a long illness, it is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. Patsy touched many lives as an educator, volunteer, and her work in keeping her Michif French language and culture alive; co-chairing committees that produced the St. Laurent History Book, and The Michif French Dictionary, to name a few. She loved to travel, and was incredibly adventurous. Her curious and mischievous nature was admired by many. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Ludovic and Maggie Chartrand, sisters, Berthe and Therese, and brother Norman. She will be greatly missed by her husband Raymond, children, Warren (Cherie), Duane (Nancy), and Crystal (Karl), grandchildren, Gage, Tawney, Taina, Shaylee and Rya, siblings, Alfred (Therese), Donat, Yolanda, Denise, Donna and Rita, and special niece Rita, along with many, many in-laws, extended family and friends. At mom's request, family and friends are invited to attend her Celebration of Life, to be announced at a later date. Special thanks to the staff at the Grace and Seven Oaks Hospitals for the care they provided her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Canadian Liver Foundation. I am so sorry to hear of Patsy's leaving. I apologise for this late message but I only just heard this news. I had the great good fortune of sharing time with the Dictionary Ladies of St Laurent and even hosting them for tea and li galette in February of 2018 when I came to the village to work on the new Riel opera that premieres next year. I'm just so sad at this news and offer my sincere condolences, she was a grande dame, so lovely! - Posted by: Suzanne Steele (colleague) on: Oct 20, 2019

It has been nearly 3 months since Patsy has passed and it is only now that I can bring myself to write something to express my sadness to her family for their loss. As a child growing up in Oak Point there are only a small handful of people whom I call family even if not by blood. Patsy and Ray played a huge role in my life as a child. Patsy for a while was my elementary school teacher and it was there that she taught me to respect the girls in the class and that teasing was not always OK. Patsy was a mother to me as I was raised by my father and my own mother lived far away. Her family is the best and to this day they remain deeply rooted in my heart and her eldest son Warren I consider to be my best friend and we are still close to this day. Patsy raised wonderful, smart, talented children and I am blessed to know them all. I lost my own father just a few months prior to Patsy passing and it was the Millar family who stepped up in my time of need, then Patsy passed and my heart broke for those she left behind. They are all strong and committed to their families as I am to mine. I love Patsy very much and I know her will and her love will live on in Ray, Warren, Duane, Crystal, and all the grandchildren. Heaven gained an Angel with her passing and I am sure the good Lord has a position for her. Peace. - Posted by: Corey Andrew de Laronde (Friend) on: Apr 23, 2019
