JOAN PUBLOW Joan Publow, beloved wife of Robert (Bob) Publow, passed away peacefully February 4, 2019 at Oakview Place. She was predeceased by her brothers, Ray, Dick and Allan Beck. Besides her husband, she is survived by; daughter Shelagh (Ned Basher); son Jon (Lisa); grandchildren, Miranda, Rob and Evan Publow, Brett Basher; brother Michael Beck, sisters-in-law, Alma Beck and Muriel Loeppky, and numerous nieces and nephews. Joan was born November 29, 1928 in Winnipeg, of Icelandic parents, Johann Thorvalder and Svana Beck. She went to Daniel MacIntyre School then graduated as an RN from the General Hospital nursing program. She married Bob on May 31, 1952 and stayed home to raise their two children. Joan was a truly loving person. She was an active member of Knox United Church and sang in the choir. She was a Grace Hospital Volunteer for 15 years. She made many dear friends throughout her life, including the staff at Oakview Place where she spent the last years of her life. We would especially like to thank them for their exceptional care.
