LOIS WHITESIDE Peacefully, on Friday, February 1, 2019, Lois Whiteside, the beloved wife of the late Stan Whiteside (1972), passed away in West Park Manor, at the age of 85 years. Lois is survived by her sons, Brian Whiteside (Deborah) and Kevin Whiteside (Svava) of Calgary; granddaughter Thea; grandson Callum; stepgrandson Tyler and his wife Sarah and their children, Paxton and Ella; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lois was born on September 14, 1933, moved to Winnipeg in 1950 and married Stan in 1955. Lois was a Clerk in the Attorney General of Manitoba file room for a number of years. Lois enjoyed making desserts, baking cakes and knitting afghans, baby outfits and shawls. Lois was a congregant of the St. Charles Congregation of The United Church of Canada. Lois had a special close relationship with her late sister Florence Stevens. Lois' greatest joy were her sons and grandchildren. We thank everybody for loving and caring for our mother. Cremation has taken place and a private Celebration of Life will be held in spring of 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of choice. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I remember that Lois always baked pies for holiday dinners at Brian's house. They were great and there was always enough for the neighbours to have a slice as well. ;-) The lemon was my favourite! Rest in peace, Lois. - Posted by: Bob & Meg Chmara (Friends) on: Apr 13, 2019

  • My condolences to both Kevin and Brian and your loved ones. I have very fond memories of your Mom from our childhoods. It sounds like her life was full of family and activities that she enjoyed...and that's the way its supposed to be. • Lois always had some interesting stories and loved looking for family. She and I would have great chats about life with a cup of tea while her hair was "cooking". I always enjoyed our Monday morning "hair-days". Thanks for the giggles, Lois. ❤ - Posted by: Shauna Hayhurst (Former hairstylist who went to her home on Grant Ave.....and friend ) on: Feb 09, 2019

  • So sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. - Posted by: Dan & Kristin (Brian & Debbie's neighbours) on: Feb 09, 2019

  • Auntie Lois was an inspiration to anyone who is a mother. Her commitment and dedication to raising her boys well was her prime goal in life and she did it so well instilling in them integrity, honesty and hard work, herself working nights at 2 jobs to make ends meet. Family was so important to her; she never forgot anyone's birthday and there were a lot of us. She would always create whatever theme of cake that was asked of her way better than a bakery could do. She told me before she passed that she was right with God and knew where she was going. Lois was a real blessing to anyone that knew her and my deepest condolences go out to Brian and Kevin and their families. Well done Auntie Lois and now may you rest in peace. - Posted by: Leanne Bardal (niece) on: Feb 09, 2019
