GERTRUDE MOAR August 19, 1920 - January 28, 2019 In the early morning hours of January 28, we lost a very special person in our lives. Mom passed away with family by her side. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Gertrude is survived by daughter Reta (Jack) Warren, son Randy (Cathy) Moar, grandsons, Darren (Bev) Warren, Travis (Jolyne) and Tyler (Taylor) Moar, granddaughters, Cindy and Hali, great-grandson Brody Warren, great-granddaughters, Kiera (Steve) Kalchev, Adria Warren, Salem (Bryan) and Remi (Cooney), great-great-grandsons, Bently and Wells, half-sister Teresa Lukianchuk, brother-in-law Irwin Hayes, godchildren, Winnie Skrenski and Linda Asham, as well as special niece Eydie Fraser, and best friend Carol Davis. She also had many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention. Gertrude was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Jimmy Moar who died October 7, 2002, her daughter, little three year old Ruthie, parents, Robert and Winnifred Pruden, brothers, Kenny and Alex (Ruth) Pruden, sisters, Ileen Hayes, Hilda (Shortie) Anderson, and grandson Derek Moar. Mom was a wonderful, kind and loving person who devoted her entire life to her family and friends. She opened her home and heart to many over the years without a second thought. She always showed us in so many ways how much she loved us and we hope she knew how much that love was returned. There were stories too countless to mention of her humour and ability to make everyone laugh. Mom worked for Safeway at a job she loved for many years until the age of 75. In her retirement she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially with her grandchildren. The weekly card games with Sharon and Glen were filled with fun and laughter. There was always a jigsaw puzzle set up to work on. When Dad passed in 2002, she lived on her own until she was 93, after which she moved in with Butch, Reta and Hali for one year. As the dementia progressed she moved to the Poseiden Personal Care Home where she lived the last four years. She had a baby doll which gave her much comfort and slept in her arms every night. She also had a best friend at the home, Johanna, who she spent a lot of time and had many laughs with. We would like to thank the wonderful staff for the loving care they gave Trudy. It was very much appreciated. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations can be made to St. Bedes Anglican Church in Kinosota, MB or a charity of their choice. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I worked with Gertie at Safeway 594 (the old Westwood store) from 1974-1978. I remember Gertie as a very hard working and loyal employee, and as a teenager she like my parents demonstrated to me a good work ethic. My sister-in-law and brother-in-law Cathy and Chuck also worked with Gertie and we all admired her for her constant smile and the fact that she was such a great employee. I would run into Gertie a number of times over the years and she always looked fantastic!!! Always a smile, years later I would work with her granddaughter Cindy and she would keep me informed of how Gertie was doing. I am so sorry for the loss of such a grand Lady. Rest easy Gert - Posted by: Wendy Mulvenna (Co-worker) on: Jun 14, 2019

  • The Travers family offers our sincerest condolences. Since my grandfather moved to Poseidon, Trudy was a welcome smiling face at every visit. She truly was a special woman who could brighten anyone’s day! She talked often to us and was proud of her baby doll. - Posted by: Melanie Reyes (Granddaughter to Poseidon resident ) on: Feb 23, 2019

  • Gertrude (Gertie) was a flawless human. She was a great friend and like a grandmother to me. She was always there for everyone who needed her. She loved her children, grandchildren and greats with all her heart and still found room for others. She always had endless energy, a smile, a laugh and a shoulder. I feel blessed to have known her for she was the most beautiful lady and the kindest and most generous woman I know of. My condolences to Reta, Randy, Darren, Cindy, Hali and family. No words could describe what a warm heart she had and she will never be forgotten by the many whose lives she touched. Rest in peace Gertude. You were loved. - Posted by: Tammy Davis (Friend) on: Feb 13, 2019

  • Sending my love and sincere condolences to the family . Gerti was a very special lady who loved everyone she met, she always made you feel welcome and like family. I remember running into her quite often when she was out on one of her many walks , she loved to go on her walks. The one thing most of all when I think of her will be her beautiful smile. She will be deeply missed. xoxo - Posted by: Kathy Short (Friend ) on: Feb 11, 2019

  • I was very sad to hear of your Mom’s passing and offer my sincere condolences to the family. It was a privilege getting to know your Mom the past few years while visiting my Mom (her friend Johanna). She always seemed to have a ready smile especially for her family. It was wonderful to see the obvious shared love and devotion between you. I will miss having coffee with her. Wishing you strength and peace moving forward.
