I initially met Yvette when we worked together at the Concordia Hospital for more than 20 years. This friendship continued on both at work and outside of work throughout our employment there. She was a kind and efficient nurse, and a good friend. Eventually when Yvette and I both left the Concordia Hospital and pursued other careers or avenues to keep ourselves busy, we remained in touch. My annual phone call to Yvette to order my (40-100 dozen perogie order) every November would always result in an hour long conversation. We would catch up on family, health, and happy times throughout the year. When I spoke with Yvette in November (to place my perogie order and chat) I knew that she was recovering from recent surgery. When a month passed by and I did not hear from her, I stopped by her home several times to see how things were going, but I did not connect with her and my phone calls went unanswered. When her friend called to deliver the news that Yvette was in HSC, I rearranged by schedule to allow a visit to the hospital but when I arrived there I was advised that Yvette had passed on and I was too late. I was deeply saddened by the news. My deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the Dan and his children. She will be missed. - Posted by: Louise McBeth (Friend) on: Feb 12, 2019

I will miss you dearly, you always had answers for my gardening and cooking questions, Yvette. Leave a few dandelions in God's garden and tell Mother nature to let up on the cold. Rest in Peace friend. - Posted by: Robyn (Friend) on: Feb 09, 2019

When I was living in the same area, I always enjoy Yvette's friendly smile and her love for flowers. Yvette would make her homemade sauerkraut for my family. My condolences to her family and she will be missed. - Posted by: Larry Smith (friend) on: Feb 09, 2019

I have known Yvette for several years due to our mutual affiliation with the East Kildonan Garden Club. Yvette used to bring me 'multiplier onions' as well as garlic 'seeds' for my garden. She was very kind to mentor me in many of my gardening 'exploits'. Whenever I had an issue, I knew Yvette would be able to 'set me straight'. I am so sorry to hear about her passing, I did not realize how serious her health concerns were. I am sorry to have a previous commitment on Tuesday, but I would like to send my sincere condolences to all the family. I will truly miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. With my deepest sympathies. Linda Homenick. - Posted by: Linda Homenick (Friend EK Garden Club) on: Feb 09, 2019
