Maxie was a very good man. He made those around him feel that everything would be alright. I remember as a young child Max lived down the street at the Martel home and worked with my father at CN. Over the years he met the love of his life April, and together they spent many years in love. They were a perfect match and much deserved each other. I know he made my father a very happy person when he was around. I had the luxury of seeing Max a few years ago at a CN retiree function and while he was struggling with age, his charm, demeanour and wit certainly hadn’t left him. Max, I hope you enjoy as much happiness in your afterlife as you gave to this during your time on earth. - Posted by: Mike Cory (A friend of our family and my fathers best friend in later life) on: Feb 15, 2019

Maxie as we would call him was a the type of neighbor everyone should have. He knew everyone on the street and always riding his bike around the neighborhood. As our kids grew and they got taller they would always call his shorty and he would chuckle about that. Rest in peace Maxie. You are now with your beloved April. - Posted by: Georgina Miller (Friend/neighbor) on: Feb 13, 2019

I met Max at Krinkles Cafe on Portage Avenue, where I worked while attending University. He was such a kind-hearted soul. The kind of person you would never forget. He had such a zest for life and a fabulous personality. - Posted by: Jodie McRae (Acquaintance) on: Feb 11, 2019

I grew up across the street from this absolute character. We enjoyed teasing each other mercilessly and his incredible positive energy was the perfect foil to my teen angst. A beautiful light went out with his passing... He will be dearly missed. - Posted by: Carrie Lund (Evans) (Friend) on: Feb 11, 2019

Don lived across the hall from my Mom at Sterling House. You could always hear him before you saw him. I would visit him on occasion with my dog Zoe. He always talked about April and how much he missed her. He also spoke of his great in-laws and all of the little kids he was so fond of. He was one of a kind! Condolences to Bruce and family. - Posted by: Barbara Gudziunas (Aquaintance) on: Feb 10, 2019
