RUDOLPH (RUDY) MYNDZAK July 6, 1933 - February 5, 2019 Rudy Myndzak, at the age of 85, passed away February 5, 2019 at the Maples Personal Care Home, Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was born in British Columbia and he was the third born of four sons to Anna and Wasyl. Rudy left British Columbia to join the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) at the young age of 18. He was passionate about his work with aircraft maintenance and quality assurance. He served a total of 28 years in the Air Force (stationed in Trenton and Ottawa, ON, Calgary and Edmonton, AB and finally Winnipeg, MB) and an additional 14 years with Bristol Aerospace. Next to his busy career Rudy was a devoted husband to his wife Theresa (Terry), and father to his three daughters, Marie, Susan and Catherine (Cathy). Rudy met the love of his life, Terry, while they were both employed with the service and after six weeks of dating they knew it was fate and tied the knot. Shortly after they wed Theresa left the service and became a stay at home mother. Rudy was the definition of a "family man" and together they raised three beautiful daughters, and were then blessed with three beautiful granddaughters and two great-grandsons. Rudy and Terry's love was one of a kind, Terry was his best friend and soul mate. On December 18, 2018 they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. As the sole provider for the family Rudy worked many hours, but this did not prevent him from spending time with and teaching many life lessons to his three daughters. Yearly car trips to visit family in BC were always a hit. Rudy enjoyed swimming, golfing and taking his dog (Willy) for walks. Rudy was well known in the neighbourhood as he ventured out with Willy for up to three walks per day. He could not go for a walk without having multiple conversations with multiple groups of people. Rudy was a social butterfly who was filled with kindness, love and generosity. Family was always his number one priority. Health issues slowed Rudy down but not his spirit. Rudy passed away from complications of Parkinsons surrounded by the love of his wife and daughters. Rudy was predeceased by his parents, brother Carl, sisters-in-law, Gladys and Anne Manjak, and mother-in-law Mary Pickup. He is survived by his wife Theresa, daughters, Marie, Susan and Cathy (Peter Meissner); grandchildren, Courtney Ryder (Robert Laba and great-grandsons, Remington and Colton Laba), Riley Ryder (David Sullivan) and Lisa Meissner, along with brothers, Alec Manjak (Joan) and John, nephews, Allan, Scott (Rae) and Kelly, nieces, Judy, Sandra and Val (Don), Fawn and Christy and their families. Also McKinnon and Hopkin families in Cape Breton, NS. We will miss and love him always. A private ceremony will be held at a later date. No flowers please. Memorial donations may be made to Parkinson Canada or a charity of your choice. Glen Eden Funeral Home 204-338-7111

  • Dear Susan, Our deepest sympathies for your loss. I know you cared and love your Dad deeply and you were always there for him. God's Blessings. Bhoag and Zaiga. - Posted by: Bhoag Singh (Co- Worker and Nursing Classmate to Susan M.) on: Mar 08, 2019

  • We are so sorry to hear of Rudy's passing. Rudy and my dad hit it off as neighbors and they could be seen often in the back alley, chatting away. After my day was unable to go outside due to his Parkinson's, he would often be at the window watching for birds, and for Rudy and Willy to pass by on their walks. He would also use his snow blower to clean our walks for my mom and dad! He and Theresa were wonderful neighbors and we miss them very much. • Was so saddened to hear of Rudy's passing. He and Theresa were like second grandparents to me and I have known them my entire life. Their bond of love always amazed me. They were not only husband and wife but also best friends. So much enjoyed chatting to both of them when I would call to catch up every few months on a Sunday evening. Also, was so fortunate and blessed to have the opportunity to visit with them during one of my business trips to Winnipeg years ago....and yes, I remember Willy....Rudy's little buddy. Was also so great to meet my cousins finally and the grandkids. When I think of your Dad and Mom, one of the best memories was when they drove to Nova Scotia years ago (their final trip) to visit with Mom and Dad in Cape Breton and also came to Halifax to spend two days with me with my family and children. We had such a great visit and I was truly honored that they would make time out to come and visit with me and my family. And we certainly shared lots of stories and laughs together. Praying for you guys and your loss at this difficult time...sending big hugs from your family here in Nova Scotia. God Bless.... - Posted by: Darren Hopkins (Theresa's 3rd cousin from Nova Scotia) on: Feb 20, 2019

  • I had known Rudy for nearly 30 years and always enjoyed occasions where we would have a chance to chat, but it was his broad smile every day at 6am at Seven Oaks Pool that I will remember most of all. He will truly be missed by everyone who was enriched by his presence. - Posted by: Ryan Kehler (Family friend) on: Feb 16, 2019

  • Marie, I am so sorry for the loss of your father. It is never easy to say goodbye to those you love, but a parent is one of the hardest. Take care, thinking about you. - Posted by: Tracey Roberts (co-worker of Marie) on: Feb 16, 2019
