HARRY JAMES NEPLYK Peacefully on February 8, 2019, at Riverview Health Centre, Harry passed away at the age of 91. He will be sadly missed by his children, Terry (Dale), Wendy (Bob) and Russ, his grandchildren, Porscha Kanellis (Lorren), Andrea (Gino), Tyler, Morgan (Ryan), and his great-grandchildren, Jacob, Phillip, Hunter and Gia. Harry was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Florence in 2011. He will also be missed by his sister Anne, many nieces, nephews, neighbours, friends, and extended family. Dad was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their many accomplishments in and outside of school. Harry was born in the R.M. of Springfield on January 20, 1928, the second youngest of nine children. He and Mom were wed on November 18, 1950. He was employed by CN Rail for most of his working life and retired at age 60. Once retired, he travelled with Mom to Hawaii, Arizona, California and Vancouver. The family also enjoyed many summers at Grand Beach and Winnipeg Beach. Dad was a long-time member of Rossmere Golf and Country Club and an accomplished golfer and curler. He finished in the Hecla Senior Mens Open in 1997 with a low score of 69, he was also very proud of his two hole in ones shots. He was involved in the Chalmers Community Centre as a baseball and hockey coach when his children were young. Later in his life, though his vision deteriorated, Dad remained fiercely independent, taking the bus to Kildonan Place and indulging in A&W breakfast specials. Harry was also an avid gardener with the best tomatoes in Elmwood. Harry was a sports fan and caught every Jets and Bomber game. The family would like to thank everyone who offered comfort and support throughout his short stay at Riverview and now in this difficult time. Donations can be made in his memory to Grey Street United Church or to a charity of your choice. A celebration of Dad's life will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Grey Street United Church, 651 Sandhurst Avenue at 2:00 p.m. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date.
