(BONNIE) IRMA LOUISE STEVENS (HUBELIT) Born March 13, 1942 - Died February 14, 2019 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Irma (Bonnie) Louise Stevens, at 76 years of age, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mom is survived by her sons, Gerry (Shirley) and Doug (Suzanne), and predeceased by her husband and the love of her life, Jack (Tiny) Stevens. She also leaves behind, her cousins, Debbie and Henry; her neighbours, Brad, Scott and Lisa and family; close friends, Joanne and Peter; Terri and Troy, Riley, Autumn and Cam, as well as many other family and friends. Mom died on her terms, just as she had lived her life. She was a strong and independent woman who met life's challenges head on. Mom was a true Blue Bomber fan of 60 years and rarely missed a game. She always looked forward to the action and fun of tailgating prior to game time and to spend time with the 'tailgate crew'. Mom was also a huge fan of curling and loved to attend the Brier with her cousin Deb and husband Henry whenever possible. Mom always deemed herself a rock and roller and enjoyed going to concerts to see her favourite bands and usually surprised a many when she would sing along with the best of them. Mom loved to travel, whether it be to Arizona with Peter and Joanne or Jamaica with Terri and Troy, or to Hawaii with Debbie, Disney with Scott and Lisa, Minneapolis, Fargo.. she was always adding and taking something off her bucket list. If anyone asked her if she wanted to join them in doing something or go somewhere it was always a yes. Anyone who knew Mom, knew that when it came time for summer, you just had to look outside and you would find Mom, sitting in her beautiful yard reading a book and listening to rock and roll. An avid gardener, Mom would spend large amounts of time during the winter months looking through magazine after magazine to make her lists of flowers and plants that she would dream of placing in the garden. Once she reached the plant nursery however, she would rarely look at them and purchase what she felt like at the time, just going on instinct as to what would go where. She had a true green thumb. At Mom's request there will be no service. She asked only that you remember the good times. Cremation has taken place and a private interment to be announced in the future. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one's charity of choice. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. And the songbirds are singing Like they know the score And I love you, I love you, I love you Like never before - Fleetwood Mac THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 204-925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Deepest condolences to the family. I met Bonnie over 50 years ago when we all lived on Home Street. Bonnie and Jack were the best neighbours ever and I have so many happy memories and also of her sons Gerry and Doug. When Bonnie and Jack bought a home, I lived with them for about a year - more happy memories. Over the years, we drifted apart, but always kept in touch. Bonnie was a very thoughtful, kind, and caring friend. Rest in peace my friend. From Dianne (Austin) Elson Calgary. - Posted by: Dianne Elson (Friend) on: Apr 06, 2019

  • Bonnie was a good neighbour and was very good to my mum after my dad passed away. I do remember how much she loved tending to her beautiful garden. My condolences to the family. Nancy Back (old neighbour) - Posted by: Nancy (Back) Richards (Neighbour ) on: Feb 19, 2019

  • We'll miss Bonnie very much. She was the heart of our little tailgate family, and we'll always cherish the times we had together. With love, Chad, Heather, Lily and Jack Wassing - Posted by: Chad (Tailgate Friend) on: Feb 16, 2019

  • We knew Bonnie for at least 12 years, as we tailgated with her at the Bomber games. She was always so friendly, so much fun, and easy to talk to. She was a great cook too. We loved it when it was her turn to “host” the tailgate. We will miss her dearly. We think of her at every Bomber game. Bonnie, you were loved, and you’ll be missed. - Posted by: Patrick McInnis and Jen Kszywisko (Tailgating friends) on: Feb 16, 2019

  • So very sad to hear this news. Deepest condolences to the family. I will so miss sitting in Bonnie's lovely backyard and shooting the breeze about everything under the sun with her on hot summer days. And gazing at her beautiful flower gardens with such envy! She was a friendly neighbour and easy to chat with. Rest in Peace Dear Bonnie.... - Posted by: Sharon (Neighbour) on: Feb 16, 2019
