Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLADYS HOMENIUK It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our mother and baba, Gladys, who passed away on February 12, 2019, at the Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 79 years. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter Jackie Dobush (Jim), granddaughter Katrina, grandson Nicholas, and her brothers, Peter Gula (Olga) and Lawrence Horbatiuk. She was predeceased by her husband Rudy Homeniuk, and her mother Mary Horbatiuk. Gladys was born in Ukraine on October 8, 1939, came to Canada in 1949 and settled in Winnipeg. In her younger years she worked as a waitress and cook in several restaurants. She married Rudy and they had their daughter Jackie in Winnipeg, then moved to Prawda where the purchased and operated the Birchwood Esso for many years. She was an incredible cook, her homemade cooking was enjoyed by many people as they were headed to the lake. After retiring she moved to Transcona, where she loved to take care of her flowers gardens. Mom eventually moved to Beacon Hill Lodge for her final years. Special thanks to the staff at Beacon Hill Lodge and Seven Oaks Hospital for the care given to our mom and baba. At Gladys' request cremation will take place and no formal service will be held. Condolences may be left at seasonsfunerals.ca

So sorry for your loss Jackie. I remember you as a little girl and your mom was indeed a fine woman and was always there for my mom (Polly) and I when I was growing up and my Dad (Anthony Homenuik was ill). I so remember her beautiful laugh and her cooking was awesome. She has truly left a special mark in my life. - Posted by: Donna Mighton (Niece (by marriage)) on: Feb 17, 2019
