FRANCES DENISE MARIE BRUSEGARD (née FRANCE FREDETTE) It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our mother on February 8, 2019. She was predeceased by her parents, Gustave and Leontine, her brother Lawrence, our father John Bjornson, and her second husband Brian Brusegard. Frances was born in Otterburne, MB on January 31, 1938. Mom was the eldest of six children: Gisele, Lawrence, Lorraine, Claudette and Suzanne, as well as four half siblings: Craig, Brenda Alan and Donna. The loss of her mother at the age of 13 led to an inner strength that was evident throughout Mom's life. Mom married our father John and started their family early, and this quickly became the most important role of her life. She leaves behind her four daughters, Eileen (Dave) Bergman, Constance (Paul) Forest, Kim (Bob) Silver and Michelle (John) Brownell. She also leaves behind her seven loving grandchildren, Genevieve (Jonathon), Danielle (Peter), Tessa, Krista (Will), Emily (Johnny), Samuel and Matthew (Janelle), and great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Zev and Ozzi. In addition to raising her own children, she took in several foster children throughout the years. Mom's home was always open to friends and family; she was known far and wide for her homemade meals. Mom was a social, vibrant woman with a great sense of style and a knack for making people feel comfortable opening up to her. Our mom's motto was, "be kind to everyone because you can never have too many friends". We will forever miss our early morning conference calls to catch up on the prior day's activities, much to the chagrin of her sons-in-law. Mom was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, and loved long walks with her sister. Mom instilled in her children the importance of family. Our mother left us too soon, but we have many fond memories to remember her by. We take comfort and are confident in knowing that she knew how much we loved her and we knew how much she loved us in return. We would like to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their compassionate care of Mom during her last few months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba and Riverview Health Centre. A private service will be held at a later date.
