LEOLA HALLSON (HEIDMAN) 1917 - 2019 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Amma, Long Amma, aunt and great-aunt, on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at the Charleswood Personal Care Home, three months short of her 102nd birthday. Leola was born in Glenboro, Manitoba on May 14, 1917. She lived there until she left to attend Normal School in Winnipeg. Mom was very proud of being a teacher, a role she continued throughout her life. She was a school teacher, a leader in 4H, a Sunday School teacher and most importantly a teacher of life to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a quiet, kind and compassionate lady who was very proud of her Icelandic heritage. She met her loving husband Harold, in Winnipeg while attending Normal School and they had 53 wonderful years together. They were blessed with six children. Leola leaves to mourn, her children, Carole (George), Ken, Gerry (Gloria), Lorelie (Terry); daughters-in-law, Linda, Gayle and Sharon, 12 grandchildren and their spouses, 22 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Harold in 1995; sons, Vernon and Lynden; parents, Ben and Lena Heidman; sisters, Elenore, Beatrice, Emily and Esther; brother Howard and all of Harold's family. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m., at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 637 Buckingham Road in Charleswood. Interment will follow at the Lundar Cemetery. The family wishes to express our deep appreciation to the staff at the Charleswood Home for the wonderful care that they have given Mom for the past 17 months. In lieu of flowers, should one wish, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Arnasons and the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre are in care of arrangements. To Leolas family. so sorry for your loss. Your mother was a beautiful woman. Was a pleasure to see her amazing smile, she lit up the room. My heart felt heavy when I went to visit my mother, and she was not there. We had the pleasure of our mothers sharing the same room. So sorry for your loss. my prayers, and thought are with your family, sending love and hugs to all of you. - Posted by: Josie (Friend) on: Feb 22, 2019
