Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVA GOY October 9, 1921 - February 17, 2019 Eva Goy passed away peacefully at her residence in Tuxedo Villa Extendicare, Winnipeg, on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the age of 97. Eva leaves behind her loving and devoted sons, Albert and Henry (Sandra); her grandchildren, Shawna (Zane Tessler), Jeff, Sherilyn (Cochrane, AB), Alison (Darryl Stone) (Western Australia) and Sandra's children, Michelle (Calgary, AB) and Craig (Candace) (Kelowna, BC); great-grand-children, Chelsea (Adam Hebert) (Drayton Valley, AB) and Skylar (Calgary, AB), Tayla and Maddison (Western Australia), Sydney and Brett (Calgary, AB), Gavin and Malia (Kelowna, BC), and Zane's children, Dana (Jack) (Toronto, ON) and Alix; great-great-grandchildren, Karsten and Rowan (Drayton Valley, AB), and Frank and Ed (Toronto, ON). Eva was predeceased by her husband Steve, her parents and brothers, Alex Lypchuk, Andrew Lypchuk and David Lypchuk. Eva was born at Yellow Creek, SK, on October 9, 1921, daughter of William Lypchuk and Elizabeth Tomaschewski. She met and married Steven (Steve) Goy, her husband of 52 years, on November 5, 1938 and shortly thereafter moved to Winnipeg where she and Steve could raise a family and find work. In her early married life Eva remained in the home where she raised her two boys, Albert and Henry. She was a loving and devoted mother providing support and encouragement to her family. She was a fabulous cook, loved gardening, developed craft skills in needlepoint, shell artwork and sewing. Once her boys began school she took on piece work making crests at home for a local team/school jacket and sports apparel manufacturer. She then worked as a retail clerk at the Hudson's Bay Company and took pride in serving her customers, beginning in the candy department and then the china department. She retired after 26 years of service. Even as a working mother her family was her top priority, ensuring that education was high on the agenda and yet supporting their outside interests. She was one proud mother when both her boys graduated university. She learned a lot about horse racing from Albert and attended a lot of hockey games following Henry. Eva always wanted to hear about the accomplishments of her grandchildren. She enjoyed the occasional road trip with Dad to Saskatchewan and short trips into the US, as well as a highlight trip for her to England and Spain. She enjoyed her bowling league and meeting for coffee with her best friends, Tina and Vivian. Eva had her share of health issues in life but overcame them and never complained. She was devastated when Steve passed away suddenly in 1990. They were a model of a marriage based on loyalty and mutual respect. She enjoyed her condo and friends at Southwood Green where she was a resident for some 23 years and for a time was on the flower gardening committee. She also lived at Shaftesbury Retirement Residence for a short while before her failing health required additional personal care. The family wishes to thank all the nursing and support staff in Station 3 at Tuxedo Villa Extendicare for their dedication and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eva's name may be made to The Salvation Army or any other charity of choice. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, with viewing beginning at 1:00 p.m. and service and interment at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception inside the funeral home.
