JOYCE RICCARDI (nee HARDY) It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved mother and grandmother, Joyce. She passed away at Deer Lodge Centre on February 20, 2019, at the age of 92 years. She will be missed by her entire family including her daughter Virginia and son Paul, their spouses, Cameron and Milene and her four grandchildren whom she adored, Alexandra, Gregory, Charlotte and John. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Peter. She also considered Cameron's sister Jane, her husband Henri and children, Aaron, Averi and Aimee part of her family and held her Italian niece and nephew, Margherita and Riccardo, in a special place in her heart. Mom was an avid reader who also enjoyed movies, listening to music and the excitement of Bingo night. Although she was a private person, she loved the company of others and was sincerely interested in getting to know everyone she had the pleasure of meeting. She delighted in people and they responded to her sincerity and warmth. Nothing made her happier than talking to her grandchildren, who knew they could always rely on her to listen carefully to them when they dropped by for a one-on-one chat with her or spoke to her on the phone from Toronto. While Mom worked as a bookkeeper for more than 30 years and prided herself on always balancing to the penny, her first and only love was her family. A devoted wife and mother, she was the family's 'safe harbour', no matter what the issue was. Mom's love and support was not limited to her family though, touching the lives of many others, especially our closest friends, who became members of the family. Her compassion, strength and determination was evident each day of her 92 years which is why she will always be our joy and guiding light. Special thanks to the wonderful people at Lindenwood Manor, who made Mom feel truly at home with them. We'd also like to acknowledge and thank the staff on the sixth floor at Deer Lodge Centre, who provided compassionate, skilled care at the end - thank you. Finally, a special thank you to Ronaldo for helping Mom to laugh during this difficult time. A service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
