Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGENARO (GERRY) ACURIN August 14, 1960 - February 20, 2019 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Genaro B. Acurin peacefully on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at St. Boniface Hospital, with his family by his side, after battling cancer. He will be remembered by his wife Eugenia; his sons, Gerald, Mark, Vincent, Gene, Dre and Jack; his brother Necias; sister Fe; and by his nieces, relatives and many friends here in Canada and back in the Philippines. He was predeceased by his parents, Paterno and Consuelo (Balbuena) Acurin, sister Wevina, and his brothers Anuario, Catalino, Expedito, Dominador, Godfredo and Renato. Genaro was born and raised in Camp Hamac, Sicayab Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte, Philippines. He retired as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Philippine Army and served for 27 years. He came to Canada on May 24, 2008, with his family, and worked with various companies of which his long tenure at Kitchen Craft Canada where he made many lifelong friends. Genaro was loved and respected by all, he was a religious person and loved to attend church on Sunday masses as member of the Roman Catholic Church. One of his hobbies was fishing with his family and close friends. He also loved playing tennis and liked watching basketball. Lamay services will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Burrin Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. Reception will be held afterward from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.
