MARIANNE ALICE GRACE PARKER (nee LESTER) A month after celebrating 84 years, Marianne said a peaceful goodbye on February 24, at the Grace Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She will be loving remembered by the family she cherished, Bob (Kim), Sharon, Barry (Lori) and Bruce; grandchildren, Ainsley Shust (Trevor) and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Owen and Maxx Shust; her two sisters, Margaret Ritchie and Marcia Rogocki (Bernie); sisters-in law, Alice and Shirley Lester; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Bob of 53 years; her parents, Alex and Tannis Lester; her brothers, Tom and Jim Lester. Born on January 20, 1935 on McMillan Avenue in Winnipeg, she was the eldest child of Alex and Tannis Lester. Mom was raised in Albert Beach and later moved to Winnipeg (Charleswood and River Heights), where she attended St. Mary's Academy. She met her future husband at Victoria Beach and were married in 1957, soon after, raising their family in Weston and then St. James (Crestview). Along with raising her family, she worked at various places, mostly in the accounting field at Hignell Printing. Throughout her life she was always involved either as a board member or helping out with various organizations. Marianne enjoyed her cottage life at Lester Beach with her husband and family. She was always seen walking about and visiting. Her love of travel has taken her all over Europe and the many fun-filled road trips in their motorhome throughout Canada and USA with family and friends. In later years, she enjoyed going on many casino trips down south. She was a social butterfly, a free spirit, was not afraid to dance and be silly. She always had a smile, lived her life with optimism, kindness and humour. She had remarkable strength and resilience, which allowed her to live her life on her own terms, always with joy, always with love. In her final hours, she pointed to heaven and said she was going to be reunited with her husband Bob, her parents and her dog Bonita. Mom was deeply loved and will be forever missed by all who knew her. A celebration of Marianne's life will be held on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to a charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com
