SANDRA DAWN KOROL (nee OTTENBREIT) September 6, 1944 - March 6, 2019 With profound sadness, surrounded by her loving family, we announce the peaceful passing of Sandra Korol. Remaining to forever cherish her memory is her loving husband Hugh, their children, Tim (Susana), David (Cynthia) and Laurie. She will be missed immensely by her grandchildren, who she gave unconditional love to, Ashley (Kyle), Aaron, Justin, Connor, Chase and Jake and great-grandchildren, Eisley and Copeland who brought her so much joy. Sandra will also be remembered by sisters, Joanne (James) Fredericks, Donna O'Connell and Terry (Steve) Ward, brother Jimmy, sister-in-law Marlene (Brian) Guyda, brother-in-law Randy Williams, special friend Marlene Mansky, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Ida (nee Chambers) and Gerald Ottenbreit, brother Dennis, sister Darlene Williams and nephew Michael Guyda. Sandra was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and grew up in the Elmwood area of Winnipeg. She attended Elmwood High. She met Hugh and they married on September 7, 1963 spending over 55 years together. Most of those years were spent in their home in West Kildonan. Sandra worked at Molson's Brewery and the Winnipeg Sun until her illness. Sandra's favourite saying was, "You only live once." She proved this by her zest for life and adventurous loving spirit that never gave up. She loved hosting parties and entertaining and always made sure to make people feel welcome. Her personality drew people to her. She was involved in many things including bowling, going to the casino and running crib night at Legion 215. Thank you to the many doctors and nurses who took care of her over the last 21 years, especially Dr. Kerr and Dr. Sutherland at CancerCare Manitoba, as well as Cori and everyone on the palliative care team. Sandra will be greatly missed by anyone who was touched by her kindness, selflessness and loving nature. Please join us in celebrating Sandra's life on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Sandy was not only my sister, but my best friend. She was the strongest woman I knew. She was always there for family and friends 24/7. She had a love for life, and there are so many beautiful memories that will stay with me forever. So many tears and so many laughs thru out the years. She knew I was there for her anytime of day, and when she called for anything I would drop what I was doing for her. Our weekly visits were always special to both of us. She would always say when I was leaving, you make me feel so good, and I would tell her how good she made me feel. My life as well as many others will never be the same.. Sis, I love you so much and will never forget our special times together. Rest in peace, until we meet again. God needed another angel and he chose you.. Rest in peace sweet, sweet sister of mine. xoxoxo - Posted by: Joanne Fredericks (sister) on: Mar 12, 2019

Hugh and Family, We are sorry to hear the news of Sandra’s passing and our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. We were fortunate to be able to catch up on family through our chance meetings at the “beach“ with Sandra and yourself. Those chance meetings will be missed and Sandra will be fondly remembered for her warm welcome and cheerful disposition. She also will also be remembered for bearing a striking resemblance to my mother, her Aunt Ann (Ottenbreit family). Our most sincere condolences. - Posted by: Paul Ferguson (Jeannie) (Cousin) on: Mar 11, 2019

My Aunty was my rock and to everyone else. Non judgmental, strong and always opened her heart and always chose to be helpful to everyone around her. Even when she was battling her own health. I miss our openly candid talks about our fears, challenges and achievements. I’m so sad, but grateful for our constant chats online and her wisdom and understanding when I couldn’t be there in person. I will forever miss Open House every year. No one was ever turned away on Christmas Eve and Aunty’s house was always filled with love. My huge condolences to my family and Uncle “Hoodie”. I love you to the moon and back, Aunty Sandy Xoxo - Posted by: Calista (Neice) on: Mar 09, 2019

Deepest condolences on the passing of Sandra. She was such an inspiration- always so positive no matter what she was going through. A few of us from the Sun used to get together for dinner once in a while. I regret that we haven't for a couple of years. My thoughts are with your family. - Posted by: Sandy Ehrich (Co-worker at the Sun) on: Mar 09, 2019
