Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE ALBI (nee SANTE) December 8, 1918 - March 17, 2019 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother at 100 years of age. Mom passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital on March 17. She was predeceased by her loving husband Fred in 1974, and her brother George Sante. She is survived by her sister Hilda Pirt. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Rosalyn (Jim), Lenore, Sandra (John) and Fred. Also by her grandchildren, Peter (Cathy), Paul (Maria), Melissa (Jeff), Andrea (Eugene) and Michael (Girlie), four great-grandchildren, Ariana, Xaviera, Noah and Ethan, and many nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario to Alfonso Bailli and Augusta Piccin. Ten days after she was born, her father died of influenza. After moving to Winnipeg her mother later met and married George Sante. Mom and Dad were married in June of 1944. They raised four children together and owned and operated the Pembina Golf Driving Range until 1969. Mom enjoyed her life and was very active in both golf and curling. She was a member of the Pembina Curling Club for over 50 years from 1964 to 2016 and was presented with her own curling stone in 2014. Mom curled with the Pembina Ladies Curling, the Carefree Curlers and the Golden Gals where she was a member of the Provincial Championship team of 1986. She was also a member of Southwood Golf Club from 1970 to 2015 where she achieved a hole-in-one in 1985. She curled and golfed until she was 97. She was a parishioner of St. Vital Catholic Church for 75 years and member of the CWL. She looked after laundering the church linens for many years. She also volunteered at The Nearly New Shop in aid of the Children's Hospital for several years. Mom was generous with her time for both family and friends and always enjoyed time with her neighbours. The family would like to thank the staff on 5 North at Victoria Hospital for their care and kindness to Mom. Special thanks to Zoe Albi and Lilian Vinet for their love and concern. A celebration of Mom's life will be held on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vital Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy. I started golfing at the old Southwood Golf Course, near the University of Manitoba, around 1990, nearly 30 years ago. What a great women's group we had for many years. Central to that group was Florence Albi, whom we all loved and marvelled at her wonderful game and her great attitude in life. I remember that I was pretty new to the game, and she taught me one day how to "mark my ball correctly"... that is, the marker goes behind the ball, not under it. One little point, out of many, to learn about the same of golf, but taught so lovingly and patiently. We had so much fun with Florence. Although she was "older" than many of us...she was definitely the way we all wanted to be when we reached her age. Or any age. Full of grace, good manners, joie de vivre, a love of golf and of being active, a love for competitive golf. Just a lovely human being. For many years she had her golfing threesome consisting of : herself, Helen Wainwright and Hazel Paton. Frequently, I'd be looking for a game of golf and I'd be invited to join them. I learned so much from Florence. We wanted to call her Flo, but she gently reminded us to please call her Florence, which we then would. I hope there is a great golf course in heaven, and someday Florence, I hope that I'll have a game with you there (or several). And I hope I'll be able to shoot my ball as straight as I know yours will always go. And I can say that it has been a privilege and an honour to know you, and to learn from you. I only noticed today the obituary, a few months late. I wish to extend my sincere condolences to her family, if you should see this. And for you to know that she was loved and appreciated by many that you won't even know of. Catherine (Cathie) Lee - Posted by: Catherine Lee (Golfing friend) on: Jun 11, 2019

Mrs. Albi ( please call me Florence) was a dear friend of the Clarke family, especially my former Mother in Law, Barbara. I remember Flo as a most sincere, kind person, always interested in others and their welfare. I was grateful to be included in her 100th birthday celebration last December, and am so glad to have chatted with her then. Sincere condolences to her wonderful, big family.
