MARION (MARY) RIZOK (nee SHEWCHUK) November 6, 1926 - March 16, 2019 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary on Saturday, March 16, 2019. She was born November 6, 1926 at Valley River, MB to Peter and Mary Shewchuk. Mary was predeceased by her parents, husband John, daughter Charlene, brothers, Bill Senkiw and Metro Shewchuk, sisters, Julia Gawaziuk, Anne Danyluk, Sophie Kereluk, and niece Janice Kereluk. Surviving closest to her, are her niece Cynthia (Henry) Mielniczek, great-niece Michelle (Jason) Mielniczek-Loboz, great-nephew Michael Mielniczek, great-great-nephews, Brandon and Jordan Loboz, and great-great-niece Gracelyn Loboz, as well as other extended numerous nieces and nephews. Mary grew up in the Valley River area and attended Trembola School. She married John Rizok on July 13, 1946. Their only child, Charlene, was born in 1947. They made their home in Winnipeg where they owned and operated Carter Grocery for 20 years. They enjoyed many summers at their cottage at Falcon Lake with family and friends. John and Mary loved fishing, getting up early to catch the fish and then go again after supper. They loved their winter escape vacations to Florida. They also travelled to Hawaii and then to Peru. Mary also travelled to Israel. Mary was a member of the Catholic Woman's League for many years. She enjoyed the monthly get-togethers making perogies for the church sales and perogie suppers. The family would like to thank Verla, Liz and Eileen for all the support and time spent with Mary. The funeral will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1001 Grant Ave., with Fr. John Mostivsky officiating and Rosary being said just prior to Mass. Luncheon to follow in the church hall. Interment to follow lunch.
