HARRIET ETHEL THYEN (CROSS) Peacefully, on January 15, 2019, Mom passed away at the age of 87. Loving wife of John who passed away December 17, 2018, Ethel leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Pat (Chris) Hopfner, Debbie (Rick) Wolfson and Linda (David) Cooper; grandchildren, Derek (Carmen), Geoff (Krystina), Michelle (John), Carly (Geoff), Jonathan (Lesley), Jennifer, Ben and Michael; and great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Mackenzie, Olivia, Sydney, Charlie and Elliott. Mom was born in Yorkton, SK on March 26, 1931. She attended school in Yorkton, where she met Dad. They were married in Winnipeg in 1952 where they raised their three daughters. Mom re-entered the work force and later retired from Wilson Furniture in 1995. Mom enjoyed knitting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Mom loved travelling and attended yearly conventions with Dad across Canada. Mom was predeceased by an infant son Gregory John in 1965; parents, Harry and Minnie Cross; and siblings, Albert, Harry and Violet. The family wishes to thank the staff of Riverview Health Centre for the care of Mom during her final weeks. Cremation has taken place and a joint Celebration of Life for Mom and Dad will be held at Niakwa Country Club, 620 Niakwa Road, Winnipeg on Saturday, April 6, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to a charity of your choice.
