PATRICIA ELIN BOYKO (nee BJARNASON) Life ends; love is eternal. With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we convey the loss of a beautiful woman on December 26, 2018 at the age of 75 years. Predeceased by parents, Eggert Bjarnason and Elin Bjarnason-West (nee Olson), and sister Leona Marshall. A loving partner of 61 years to Jerry, sister to Judy, mother to Dan (Colleen), Tom (Kimberly) and Ty. Patty also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren. Patty was born in 1943 in Winnipeg. After marrying in 1962, Patty and Jerry moved to California in 1968 with their two young boys. During this time, Patty was one of the original models for the famed stylist Vidal Sassoon. They returned to Winnipeg for good in 1970, where Patty supported the family as a bank teller while Jerry attended dental school. Following Jerry's graduation she devoted herself to raising her children. Throughout the remainder of her days she found joy in attending holiday celebrations with her family, including the annual Icelandic festival in Gimli and cheering for her beloved Jets and Bombers. Family and friends will remember her as a kind hearted, generous Mama Bear. She will be missed. Funeral service to be held on Friday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gimli Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Schulz officiating. Interment in the Gimli Community Cemetery to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Patty's name to The Winnipeg Humane Society. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

The only light of this loss was the fact we were all together for Christmas dinner one last time and final goodbye. My biggest regret is not being closer to Grandma B while she was still with us, Love you and miss you a lot. Having all the Boyko’s together on the stone path in Gimli is a beautiful thing you did for us. Xoxo Savannah. I’m still singing for you!!! - Posted by: Savannah (Grand daughter ) on: Aug 11, 2021

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Patty's sudden death. I know her boys and grandchildren will miss her immensely Jerry is a good man who was devoted to his wife. He is mourning his love of his life. As the other Grandmother in the kids life, I observed all interaction with their grandchildren They loved her very much and will miss her many dinners and their togetherness They will miss her hugs and encouragements. She was very proud of her grandchildren'saccomplishments accomplishments. I see my son in law Tom, mourn his beautiful Mom. I only wish I could take some of their pain for them Unfortunately they have to travel it alone I will always be there for them Patty. They are taking good care of your hubby. May you rest I'm peace. I am one of the 4 Johnson girls, daughters of Ab & Nell Johnson. My Dad & Eggert we’re first cousins and Patty’s Mom (we called her Leo) worked in my Mom’s flower shop (Nell’s) for years. She was a valued employee and a wonderful friend to my Mother. Although I didn’t know Patty well because our lives took us in different geographical directions I did keep up over the years via my older sisters. The family connection endures and I wanted to send our condolences to Jerry and all of Patty’s family.
