MARILYN LANGAN It is with great sadness that the family of Marilyn Langan announces the passing of their beloved mother and baba on Friday, March 22, 2019. Left to cherish her memory is daughter Shelley Herrick (Brad); son Clinton (Lisa); grandchildren, Christopher, Olivia and Aimie; sister Sylvia Bewski (Mike); sisters-in-law, Violet and Shirley Tabinski; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. She joins in peaceful eternity her parents, Florence and Peter Tabinski; sister Margaret and nephew Ryan O'Leary; brothers, Larry and Mike Tabinski; and grandson Corbie Langan. Marilyn, born Alice Marie Tabinski in the district of Ethlebert, Manitoba was a fiercely independent person who, after graduating high school, left the family farm at age 17 to build a life in Winnipeg. She married Mark Langan in 1962 and eventually began a career as the world's best diner waitress at the iconic Wagon Wheel Restaurant in downtown Winnipeg, until health issues forced her to retire. Her family was her priority and her great love, but she also enjoyed curling, bowling, watching hockey, playing slots at the casino, and catching a Goldeyes' baseball game whenever she could. In accordance with Marilyn's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a gathering to honour her will be held on Tuesday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the Heritage Room at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 E. at Navin Road. Interment will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, a donation in Marilyn's memory may be made to a charity special to you. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home & Cemetery Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg, MB (204) 222 3241 Condolences may be sent to www.greenacresfuneralhome.com

I found a Wagon Wheel menu today that Frannie Gomez gave me just before it closed, and Marilyn's face and name popped into my head. I Googled her hoping not to find an obituary, but alas, here we are. I have many happy memories of Marilyn as I remember eating at the Wagon Wheel as early as 1969. She watched me grow up, and she would always spoil me with a slice of banana cream pie on her dime. :D Later, I played junior football, and she would watch my games from her front yard beside Hawkeyes field. IIRC, a field goal or point after would end up in her yard! Even later, I remember being in the city for some on-the-job training for school, having an expense account, and Marilyn writing up a stack of meal receipts for me even though half my meals were junk food in the hotel room. XD My parents Walt & Tina loved her as well, and I remember her breaking out some Ukrainian words with them. God bless you, Marilyn. You are missed. - Rob - Posted by: Robert Pauch (Customer/friend) on: Dec 01, 2023

So sorry to hear of your loss. Fond memories of growing up on Magnus Ave. Your mom would always let us play in the basement be it ball hockey putting on star wars skits or doing KISS concerts. Lots of noise but she didn't mind.. It was great being kids and hanging out in the Langan house. She will be missed. Lots of love. Your friend Miro... - Posted by: Miro Lazic (Friend) on: Apr 02, 2019
