JOHN WILLCOCK On Monday, March 25, 2019, the world lost a true original. Suddenly and without warning, John Willcock died while at home in Sandy Hook. He was 64. John will be missed by his wife and best friend, Ginny (Brown), daughter Ashley (Kurt Reinfort), son Evan (Meredith), granddaughters, Dia and Brynn, mother Elizabeth Willcock, brothers, Michael (Geraldine) and Peter (Dolfi), sister Mary Kay Thompson (Richard), and nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his father David, sister Shelagh, and first wife Lynn. John's career days were spent doing what he loved best - dealing with people. He made many friends in his working life. John was always ready with a joke, and a kind word. He forged many lasting relationships during his 18+ years living on the Sandy Hook Golf Course. Golf was one of John's favourite pastimes, which he played with passion and skill. He also brought his natural athletic skills to long-distance running and, more recently, pickle ball. John was also a good cook who loved to take over the kitchen. He made the best coffee in the world, even delivering Ginny's morning cup to her, wherever she was in the house. Hold your loved ones close while you can, they are so precious. A celebration of John's life will take place on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to a charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 neilbardalinc.com

  • Ashley & Evan - just learned of the tragic news and so sorry we missed John's service. Your Dad was a great friend and neighbour - helped plan parties and get-togethers in our younger years. • My AfterFive running days are certainly special. John made them that way from training runs, races, monthly dinners, volunteering to put on the Birds Hill events. One race in particular will always hold a fond memory for many reasons. Running down the highway from Winnipeg Beach to Gimli, in Sandy Hook both him and Ginny cheering us on. Only he could come up with the name "Is your dinky dangling". His sense of humour was always evident. He has touched many of us over the years. He will truly be missed. My condolences to Ginny and his children. Sorry I couldn't make the service. RIP John Boy. Lots of love and hugs to you dear, sweet Ginny. Mouse - Posted by: Marilyn Fraser (Friend) on: Apr 04, 2019

  • John and Ginny came into our lives as Canadian snowbirds to Las Vegas. Through a dear mutual Canadian friend, Clyde and I bonded with them immediately. John played a lot of golf with Clyde and other friends; he was smart, kind, skilled, and very much liked by the fellows. I especially enjoyed conversing with John on a wide variety of subjects; we even ventured into American politics without rancor or animosity. John was a very special person and it was, indeed, a privilege to get to know him and be considered a friend. Clyde and I will miss him; May His Memory Be Eternal. • So many good memories of John, one of the best being the wonderful theme parties that Ginny and John would host. You could always expect the unexpected from John. He was the original "laugh out loud" person and he will truly be missed. My heart is with Ginny and all of Johns family and friends. It is indeed a very sad time for all. - Posted by: Joanne Hamilton (Friend) on: Mar 30, 2019

  • John was a fixture on our dog walks. Always had a wave and a quick funny story. Recently I took my step-mother to see her lawyer who happens to be John's brother. I asked for a little story about John so I could astound him with my knowledge and tease him a little. Johns brother told me he called himself “JJ”.... for John Jenious (genious)...which is funny on many levels and so like John to be so funny. We will miss him. Our thoughts go to the entire family. Much love Deb and Judy - Posted by: Deborah romeyn and judy hill (Friend and walking companions) on: Mar 30, 2019
