CARLOS MANUEL BORGES December 18, 1962 - March 28, 2019 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Carlos on March 28, 2019 following a brief battle with cancer. Carlos will be dearly missed by his parents, Manuel and Alda Borges, his son Shawn, and his siblings, Nelia (Raj), Patricia (Eric), Nelson, Jose and Jeannie (Gerald) and his longtime girlfriend, Celeste Favel and her family, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Carlos was born in Sao Miguel, Azores and came to Canada with his family in 1971. He embraced Winnipeg as his home, where he went to school, worked and made lifelong friends. Anyone that knew Carlos knew him as the biggest Boston Bruins fan. He would watch every game and cheer on his team. The family would like to thank all of the staff on 5E and the Intensive Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital that took such great care of Carlos. We appreciated everything you did to make him comfortable. We would also like to thank Carlos' good friend Dann Raposo for all his help and support. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 4588 Roblin Blvd. with interment to follow at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bruce Oake Recovery Centre or CancerCare Manitoba.
