(nee GABRIE)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great-Grandmother on Monday, April 1, 2019, at the age of 90 years old. Kay was born on January 23, 1929 in Kawa (near Sioux Lookout), Ontario.
Kay is predeceased by her son Ronald.
Kay is survived by her children, David (Joyce), daughter-in-law Shirley (Jack), Michael (April), Margaret (Bill), Marilyn (Dennis), Jim (Nancy), Barbara, and Hazel (Randy); 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Kay grew up in Sioux Lookout before meeting Mytro Kotz and moving to the Dryden area to raise their eight kids.
In her spare time, Kay loved being outdoors and would never turn down the opportunity to go fishing, berry, or mushroom picking. She was an avid gardener and always looked forward to spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. As an avid gardener she meticulously maintained the various vegetables she grew while listening to the Blue Jays games on the radio. As anyone who tasted them can attest, the snap peas and everything else really, was just better at grandmas. She was also known for the world's best homemade pierogies and cabbage rolls.
In her advanced years, Kay would participate in as many activities as possible; when she wasn't there she would often be seen working on a variety of puzzles. Her friendly demeanor allowed her to make friends easily wherever she went.
Rest well Mom, we love you
and miss you very much.
