EUGENIA (JEAN) HANNA
January 15, 1935 - April 6, 2019
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband Gordon Hanna; daughter Peggy Graham (Dave); grandchildren, Lindsay Martens (Kyle), Kelsi, and Sean (Janet); great-grandchildren, Finnley and Esmae Martens; sister Paula Welsh; sister-in-law Rose Steciuk; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Mary Steciuk; siblings, Alec, Sophie, Anne, Walter, Peter, and Rose.
Jean was born on a very cold day in January, at home in Meleb, Manitoba. She was the youngest of a family of eight. She attended Cumming school, the one room schoolhouse across the road from the family farm, and later went on to Isaac Newton School in Winnipeg. As a young woman, she began working at Eaton's Mail Order. Soon, Jean met Gordon and fell in love, and they were married on July 10, 1954. She was very proud that they were married for 64 years. Jean especially enjoyed playing cards with her family, watching The Price is Right and Polkarama, telling jokes, winning at bingo, and in later years she developed an affection for Elvis. She will be dearly missed by her family.
We would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers for their compassion and support given to Jean at Donwood Personal Care Home and at Concordia Hospital.
The funeral service will take place at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave., on Saturday, April 13 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
